I am so thankful for everyone's support! It is truly a blessing! I spoke with my nutritionist and she gave me some great tips and advice. I think I was really over focusing on everything and was generally nervous. I definitely think this stage is the hardest because your trying to recover as well as trying to stay focused. Again, thank you for your support!!

It is normal to feel this confusion at the beginning. I am really glad to hear that you reached out to your nutritionist, they really can help you through these first few months.

As far as Protein options go, it is important to keep trying options until you find one that works for you. I had a lot of trouble with finding a Protein solution. It turned out that I was lactose intolerant those first 6 months so they suggested taking Premier Protein ready made shakes and milking them down with either lactose free milk or fair life which also boosts the protein.

So I would take one shake and mix it with 22 oz. of lactaid (I hated the fair life milk). I would work on that shake all day long and do the best I could.

What I found was that the premier Protein Shakes do not have that discussing protein taste nor smell. For me, they tasted pretty much like chocolate milk and I was in heaven that I found something that not only tasted decent but I didn't really have to do much. By the time I hit week 4 I was able to drink a whole 11oz shake without milking it down. I believe I drank two shakes a day until I hit the 4 month mark.

Premier Protein has 30 grams of protein, 1 gram of sugar and 160 calories.

Many insurance companies will even pay for them if you get your doctor to write a prescription.

I hope that things get better for you soon. I started to feel much better when I was able to get my Water and protein in. That was about 4 weeks post op for me.

Best of luck and reach out if you need anything or have questions.

Before doing anything different, always always ALWAYS consult your NUT. Advancing your diet before your body is able is a recipe for disaster. That being said, I was advanced to puréed foods at 10 days post op. Things on that list included sugar free yogurt, sugar free pudding, mash potatoes mixed with unflavored Protein Powder, ricotta cheese, refried Beans, cottage cheese and even runny eggs smashed. This is the part of the program where your brain and your body are not on the same page. You have to learn to follow your steps and ignore what you think is hunger, because it isn't. It's just your head talking a pretty game, but the longer you follow your rules and stick to the steps, the easier it gets. I'm almost 9 months out and I do get hungry sometimes and sometimes I don't. It matters what you put in your body to make it not be hungry. The rules are a must. At about 4 to 6 months that's when hunger starts making it's comeback so it's important to have the rules down to heart before that happens otherwise you will likely go off the rails easier.

I had my first post op appointment and it went great. Nut and Dr advanced me to the soft foods diet. I just had less than 1/2 piece of baked catfish, 4 pieces of roasted cauliflower and 3 broccoli and 1/2 cup of baked sweet potato and am doing fine. I chewed every bite 20+times, and ate extremely slow. I am now only on my prilec medicine. And am 13 pounds less! ????

I am 4 months out and I can still stomach chocolate premier Protein premade shakes. Convenient and a bit pricy 32 for 18 from costco. But cheaper than a Breakfast at McDonald's!

Get an isolate whey shake 99% lactose free. I got the gold standard but take a look at vitacost.com free shipping and quick. ** Caution on eggs I have heard people get really sick on scrambled eggs. Didnt your Dr have Nurses and Dietitians to give you info? I had two in person classes, 2 mandatory videos and 4 months of appointments. Plus the two week preop diet. I have followed all exactly and have moved on to soft foods per Drs ok. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
