My surgery date is june 28 liquid diet day 1

Recommended Posts

You and I are on the same path ... June 28th RnY date, and now only four more days to go after today! Started the liquid diet on the 14th, so well over half-way done. My experience has been that there are ups and downs throughout the day, so I will have periods of energy and periods of feeling washed out. Finding that "cheating" (not really) a little bit by having unsweetened almond milk as a beverage to get my liquids in helps some. (It has 30 calories per 8 oz., which is over the guideline of 10, but I figure if it's helping me to stick to the liquid diet, it's worth it!) How are you feeling now, on day 3? I've heard day 3 or day 4 is the point when the body adjusts and it gets easier, on the whole. Cheers!

(Also, found these great beef bone broth pods for the Keurig on Amazon for lunch each day. The broth tastes amazing.)

Good luck with your liquid diet! You are on your way to a total transformation.

Of all the things that I had to do before surgery, this was the hardest. It was a long 2 weeks. What helped me stay focused was seeing the actual gastric bypass surgery on YouTube. When you see them lift your liver up to get to your stomach, it becomes obvious why they want you to shrink your liver before surgery.

If you feel brave enough to watch, here it is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_-Rmk8Mfwk

My liver shrinking diet is almost over and it did get a lot easier. I actually got to the point where if be working and I'd look up and see that it was 1 or 2 o'clock so I'd have to make my shake. Before this my stomach would tell me to eat around 11:30. Today and tomorrow are my last phase 2 diet days- then I'm at the hospital at 830 on Monday morning.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
