Insurance Approval Jitters

I have Florida BCBS. I have a BMI of 35-36 and hypertension. I have done the 3 months of appointments and it's time to submit to insurance. My Bariatric group seems confident everything is find but I am nervous. I know they do this all the time. Anyone have any encouragement?

Thanks! She said it was the quickest approval she had ever gotten with it being a secondary insurance. Do you have approval yet ?

Good news! I called enough times now that they submitted to the insurance company & I have a reference number. Phew! Tomorrow the insurance calls will begin. Thank God!!!!

I waited too long to be a polite bug. I followed instructions from the office manager respecting the mountain of paperwork that piled up during vacation. It is a good idea to advocate for yourself politely. They are there to help you. The worst they can say is no. Make it about getting your reference number and nothing else. They have to give it to you if you ask for it.

Don't feel guilty - it's their job. Be your own advocate. I called today and was told I was all set. I wouldn't have known if I didn't call.

:D My doctors office called at 7:30 this morning and I was approved!!! I thought I would be scared but instead I'm really excited. Sadly, knowing me, that can change on a dime.

Anywhoo....my endoscopy is next Tuesday, the 5th and my actual surgery is on the 15th!

Maybe this day will bring many approvals to all of my new friends struggling with this. I'm crossing my fingers and toes for you. I can actually cross my toes since they are freakishly long. :o

I know, I emailed her this morning at 9 but she didn't answer and they close at 5 so chances are I won't be getting a response till Tuesday if any. It sucks but I'll keep trying.

I called the insurance company and they said that they have complete paperwork and will give me an answer by the end of next week. This is much sooner than originally communicated. Progress is perceived whether or not it is actual. I feel better.

I'm so happy for you!!!!

BTW...did anyone else swallow their tongue when the hospital told them how much they would owe? I've been on the phone with billing all day. Thank heavens for payment arrangements!

I have met my deductible this year (this week in fact!) so I will only have to pay around $300 to the surgeon as long as surgery is approved by AETNA. I will make sure they approve it by doing anything they request as I've done so far. I'm blessed. Many have to take out loans to pay.

I got the call today to schedule. However, they gave me august 18th. The problem is, I work with special needs children and I have to go back to work august 17th. I was so upset and cried my heart out. The scheduler said she might be able to get me in late July. She is suppose to call me tuesday and let me know. In the meantime, I called the school and they said not only would the 18th not be a problem, I could take 2 weeks and have 2 weeks with no lifting, but I have enough comp time accumulated that I won't even miss a paycheck!! Yay !! This is such an emotional rollercoaster! Whew!
