I'm going to Dr. Gluck in Muskegon. I really like him. Having my 3 hour "pre-fast" nutrition meeting this morning at 10, and I start my liquid diet on Monday. Can't believe it's getting so close!! Good luck with everything. :)

Hi all,

I haven't started my journey yet.. my informational seminar is next Wednesday the 7th in Rochester Hills. Would be looking to have my surgery at Troy Beaumont.

I was wondering.. I have Priority Health PPO.. has anyone here gotten through the approval process with them?

@@diamondchic94 I'll be honest. I was very frustrated with the 6 month medically supervised process. DO not and I MEAN DO NOT go to Krause's NP Rachel Blind. Straight up Beyotch. We just clashed period. End of story. I'm not sure what her problem was but i felt that she was more of a barrier in my process. Unfortunately i will have to see her again but if I didn't it would be too soon!

Also, in terms of psychology, please go to Kevin. I wish I had. I had some other chic who is no longer there and really she was on some BS. first off... my evaluation was normal. I agreed to meet with her for a few more times after the eval just because I was previously in therapy a couple months prior for depression. I thought it would be nice to resume therapy under new pretenses. Wrong! She was not helpful at all. She just wasted my time and hers. My depression stemmed from marital issues and i was in the process of rebuilding. I wasn't engaging in any risky behavior or overeating. I was just hard pressed to find time for myself due to my family's hectic schedule.

I knew how to create a calendar, prioritize, delegate, meal plan and prep why are you wasting 45 min of my time to reinforce old concepts. I'm top of that This woman would not clear me for surgery. My clearance was being held up by her! My 6 months turned into a nightmare 12 months!!! She left the organization and my case was transferred to Kevin. He cleared me after my 2nd visit. He shook his head trying to understand why she kept me so long.

Good luck on your first visit. Just stay away from rachel. Everybody else is good. Dr Klenzar, Melissa NP those were the only others that I saw besides Rachel and they were great. Very supportive, helpful, informative, understanding. Rachel will blab about herself and how she just left this national conference and presented on her research and studies on bariatric surgery which show this and that and I think I'm a Dr but I'm not and I have a complex about it so I'll just act like a straight up BEYOTCH to people and sound authoritative to make people respect me. Girl BYE!

Anyways The other staff dieticians, exercise physiologist etc were awesome.

You're at the right place. Just get with the right people, do what is asked of you and don't miss any appointments. Within that 6-7 month time frame. It goes by quickly. I'm scheduled for surgery 7/1.

Oops sorry about that. I was trying to comment on the post and learned that it's tough to comment on the ipad.

I couldn't resist adding to your commentary on Rachel. I was banded by Dr. Krause (who I love!) in 2010 and am in the process of revising to sleeve. She is the only one who I've come across in the Beaumont system that hasn't treated me with respect and dignity. I'm almost 53 and resent being treated like an idiot. Oh well, at least with the sleeve I won't have to see her as often as with the band!

That being said, I wouldn't go anywhere else because Krause is so good.

I'm hoping for an October date, but waiting on sleep study results.
So when do I meet his nurse? And would it be this Rachel lady for the Troy location? The Dr I seen at Beaumont, she told me once she clears me to see Dr. Krause, I only see him once then surgery so when do I meet this nurse?

I have Priority Health and they were pretty quick about approving me once I met all their criteria, i.e. A 6-month dr supervised wt loss program, BMI of 40 or 35 with co-morbidity. Once we submitted the paperwork I was approved in a little over a week.

Oh thank you for this thread. I just went to my initial evaluation at the Beaumont WCC and was given the daunting task of choosing which of the 3 RO surgeons to use. I was researching online but not getting a lot of info. My gut was leaning towards Krause and now with this thread, I feel like I have direction.

Was he hard to schedule with? My insurance won't require the 3-6 month pre-op period so as soon as I can get my testing done, I will be able to meet with him and schedule.

I'm confused about this Rachel person. Is she still there? Can you navigate around her? I don't want any roadblocks or drama.

Last question .. Did any of you go to the bariatric support groups before surgery? Did that help?

Hello,

I went with Beaumont WWC in rochester & choosen Dr Krause too. I only seen the MD once & the psych dr, had lans done & had my body comp test done. They said they sent me Dr Krauses info to make an appt so Im trying to patiently wait to get the info. Wish they could habe called me with it, but they sent me a letter with the info. As far as this Rachel nurse, Ive never seen or heard of her through the Rochester location. But Im assuming she will be around when I meet Dr Krause at the Troy location?

You know @@judy vsg you may like her. When I first met her I did--well enough to schedule with her each time. Before I was going to whoever was available. She just has kind of a no nonsense approach that comes off as arrogant and sometimes condescending. This was my experience yours may be different.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
