Hello all,

Please tell me I'm not the only one. I am two weeks away from VSG and I am regretting my decision already. The first thing that comes to mind is that I could do this by myself. I know that is a lie because I've tried so many things in the past. I assume that this feeling is coming from the fear of surgery, I honestly don't have a clue. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that the surgery as well as diet and exercise will ensure some weight loss. Please tell me I'm not the only one with this feeling......

My nutritionist gave me a scenario asking how many pounds a year I would gain/lose in a year. At the rate I was going I would well over 150 lbs to lose and very likely lose all my mobility. With all the important people in my world I want to show them that I am proactive in using the tool of bariatric surgery. If I have surgery and gain weight I will never be as heavy as the rate I was gaining before.

I am 4 days post surgery. It is tough but with support and education i will save and enhance my life. I feel I am being respectful towards myself. God bless you.

@@VSGMEPLZ26,

You are definitely NOT the only one with these feelings, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore them. Take all of your doubts just as seriously as you did when you were first considering the sleeve.

It sounds like your thoughts are just like most other people’s. On the one hand, you feel that you should be able to do this on your own without surgery; on the other, you feel that with the sleeve, you can be sure your dieting efforts will work.

Back to being able to do it on your own: have you tried? Of course you have, right? Haven’t you done a million diets? Did they work? No. And why not? If they didn’t work then, do you have reason to believe they would work if you tried them again? If not, it’s not realistic to think that you could lose weight without the sleeve, right?

By the way, remember that your decision does not need to be final until you are under anesthesia. Don’t ever worry about “looking silly” for backing out or about “not following through.” Only worry about what is best for you, whether or not that includes the sleeve.

Good luck! It’s a tough and agonizing decision, but you will make the right one for you.

Wow LipstickLady you were actually describing my life. I feel scared and nervous but not a second thought about how overdue this is. I am 53 how many more years am I going to yoyo diet and miss out on life. Clearly I CANNOT do this on my own. For my first child I was a very involved parent (she is now almost 20) but my 2nd. (now 15) I have missed so much bec. I am embarrassed of the way I look so I don't want to participate in any school events, I don't want to take a picture bec. I am ashamed of how heavy I am, my joints hurt bec. of the extra weight which makes my a tired lazy parent who often says NO more times than I should when he asks me to do something. That needs to change now while I can salvage a little of his youth and leave him with some positive memories. I am tentatively sched. for July 14th. 2016.

Go Addgirl06 go. I wasn't nervous about my op but I was sick and tired of being sick and tired.......and in pain........and embarrassed..........and depressed..............and everything else negative. At the age of 59 and nearly nine months post surgery I can only say that if I had done things sooner I would have saved myself so much misery! I'm a very happy sleever. My life is getting better with every ounce that drops off me. Each glob of fat that detaches itself from my carcass switches on the smile on my face. I have to admit my weight loss is slow but very steady but I am spending most of my time walking around with an idiot grin on my face!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
