Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. Well I can't believe I will be day 9 tomorrow! Have been able to get in liquids and Protein in from the start. Have not had any changes to my taste buds and have lost 8 lbs. I am still swollen and have a huge bruise on my lower right stomach that had me little worried, but doctor said it was likely from the blood thinner shot they gave me in the hospital before they discharged me.

Today I had some Tomato Soup and it filled me up quickly. Had to stop after a few oz. Was so full and stayed that way for 3 hrs. Took me a minute to realize I needed to stop eating. Good lesson to pay attention to my body.

That is my update!

I'm 5 days post op and I am fairly hungry, especially when making food for the kids. I'm looking forward to Protein Shakes in 3 days!

I'm also very, very gurgly since yesterday. It's like a second wave of gas is grumbling through me. My stomach will not quiet down! My kids find this hilarious. Me, not so much haha!

I too was very gurgly in the first several days but it does pass. My bowl movements were interesting too. The gas was so uncomfortable.

Oh, those heparin shots! I had 3 when I was in the hospital, the bruises are HUGE! I also had 3 IVs infiltrate, so I have huge bruises from those because of the heparin. I feel a LOT better than I look!!

June 27th surgery here. I was allowed to start full liquids today but the plain yogurt I had did not agree with me one bit. I've also been on my period so I was a cranky uncomfortable mess. On the plus side I finally popped today so hopefully I'll be a little less uncomfortable. I just want to be able to walk without feeling like I'm doing the "pregnant waddle"

Has anyone out there that has gotten the procedure had heightened emotions since? Literally everything gets to me and I cry. I cry bc I'm cold...bc I'm alone at home, because I feel like I'm not fun anymore and can't do fun things with my fiancée anymore right now....I'm just an absolute mess.

I'm an emotional mess myself. I'm 9 days post-op and my Dr. Is very conservative. I'm not allowed to eat pureed before another 15 days. Can't do anything and everything makes me cry. It gets easier everyday don't worry.

I'm on day 11 post op and feeling a little bummed out today for whatever reason. I think I need to get out and do something lol. My cousin sent a text inviting the family out to a Mexican restaurant tomorrow night to Celebrate her son's bday. I so don't want to go. Surrounded by some of my favorite foods and can't have anything? Ugh. But her eldest daughter is coming in from out of town and we rarely see her so I feel like I must go. I know it will get better and I'm focusing on my exercise and liquids. Just feeling a bit bummed. I get to add some puréed food Wednesday but I am just not that excited. It'll be two more weeks of that before I can add anything new. But it's worth. It's worth it. It's worth it. Lol

I had my sleeve surgery on June 21st. Everything tastes bad... Even Water. Has anyone else had this problem.

Yes! Things didn't taste the same to me. I'm 16 days post op now and it has gotten a lot better. Hang in there :)

I think I get to start some extra items like yogurt and creamy Soup after nut on Tuesday.

Dreaming of burgers. But also better fitting clothes... Sigh.

I had bad breath for about a week after surgery but it's better now. My tongue was coated with gunk. Mouthwash helped some.

I'm been craving smoked meat. Like pork or chicken.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
