My Big Fat Fabulous Life 2016 Season

Recommended Posts

I wasn't going to watch this show anymore and here I am watching the first episode of the new season.

Bless her heart.

Whitney is still: delusional, annoying, crass, starved for attention, and frustrating.

She is also still: not fabulous.

I decided not to watch this season just from the previews.

I decidex not to watch when I seen a grown adukt woman living with her mom and was a slob, not funny and vasically getting money to be on a show about being fabulous and fat but complaining about losing weight whike shoving everything bad down her throat and drinking.

She is everything that I hate and is just giving ammunition to people to mock overweight people.

Very mixed feelings..on one hand good for her for having a positive self image and trying to make it "ok to be fat" and from the few episodes I've seen she at least talks about trying to make healthy decisions. But, and i hate saying this, a small part of me feels like it shouldn't be ok to applaud someone making constant unhealthy decisions. But I was that person making constant unhealthy decisions

I missed it. Is Whitney the person from the other show "big fat fabulous life" or whatever it is called?

Part of her weight is due to PCOS... I would think she would Celebrate larger size people if she had an actually full time job and some direction in life... Instead I think she just reinforces negative stereotypes about obese people...She's been enabled by the parents... It's easy whine about being obese harder to choose to do something about it

I totally misread the title. I thought "My 600 pound life" and was excited Whitney was on the show! Oops!! Sorry!

That would be too funny, reality show cross over...

If she did have surgery it might help shed some of the negative stigma...if she showed the struggles and how surgery is not "cheating"

Maybe one day she will but right now she is living under the delusion that she present obese people in a positive way...

I have watched the show, though I have not watched the new season yet....I'm sure I am going to catch up on it at one point or another. I must say that I do get a kick out of her Mom and their interactions on the show.

I think that said the show is a dichotomy of positive body image and obesity prejudice along with a bit of disillusion about what exactly being obese truly is versus being a "healthy" weight. To be fair they do try to portray the very real struggles of obesity along with all the health issues that stem from the disease such as PCOS and Diabetes. Making light of things such as "chub rub" and aching feet and joints and holes in spandex.

In many many ways the life that Whitney is living on TV is the life many of us may have lived. We have been in the denial stages where we thought we were "healthy" or that it was our illness that caused us to eat and eat and then eat some more.

I know for me I am an emotional eater and when I have days where I want to just sit locked in my bedroom in front of the TV and eat a gallon of ice cream the fact that I can't do that anymore actually adds to my "stress".

I want to believe that I am healthy even if I am obese and the truth is that I am not. However the truth is also that the lady that sits next to me and is the "perfect" weight and body size is also not healthy. The young lady that goes to my Dr. office is only 22 years old and looks like a movie star, she's not healthy either. In fact on paper my health out weighs hers and she is half my age and weight. So who is to say what is healthy when it comes to size and weight?

I applaud women like Whitney who stand up for themselves obese or not and let others know it's not about weight, size, skin color, religion, choice of wardrobe or what I put in my mouth. It's about ME, about who I am and what I have to share with the world.

The show is entertainment television, that's the category you find it under if you are searching for it along with my 600 lb life and others. If you can relate to something positive or negative GREAT you got a takeaway for your time and if not..there's always the Bachelor? :P LOL

@Inner_Surfer_Girl - are you watching this? I just turned it on and they are talking about doing an intervention with Whitney. That will NOT go over well and I gotta say it wouldn't have gone over if someone had done it to me either. So sad!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
