When will I no longer regret my decision to have this. I had RNY on 05/20 and if I could, I would have not done it. This sucks.

Huh, yeah, I'd be curious as to why also; for me, the only regret of sorts is why I didn't do it in my 40s... had mine Feb 10th, a fantastic decision

I'm miserable. I miss eating meals with my family, I'm tired of drinking broth and eating popsicles, I can't drink as much Water as I need, I'm constantly exhausted from a calorie deficit.

You are only 9 days out. Give it time. It gets better. The first few weeks can be a little rough.

Nikki, I am sorry you feel so crummy physically. This is only going to be short term though, you won't be stuck on broth and Popsicles in a few weeks, and you will find a way to eat with your family.

You're certainly feeling the effect of fewer calories, and it's running in a deficit that's going to make the weight go away. But don't forget that you're also wiped out bc you had major surgery, and your body is working overtime on creating new tissue and knitting everything back together again.

sleep as much as you can, and give your mind a chance to catch up with your body. Give yourself a chance.

If I can ask.....what were some of the reasons you wanted to have the surgery?

Oh dear. Please please know this will pass! I never had regrets, but it is frustrating not eating with your family and having to stick to a bland diet. It goes fast though!!! I promise!!! And soon you will really begin to feel brand new.

Are you walking? You should be! At every chance you can. When your family is eating too! In the beginning I would stick with them while I finished my meal and then leave them to the clean up/ finishing while I went for a nice walk. Clears the head, gets the metabolism going and you come home to a clean kitchen!!!

Keep thinking of your why- what you were looking to attain- and focus on that!!!

Wow.

I guess you should have opted for the upgrade to the instant gratification surgery package.

You know, the one where everything gets fixed and you are at goal in four days or less.

Give it some time.....which you haven't done, by the way.

Chill the heck out and get out of your own way.

You are simply in the healing phase and your current prescribed diet reflects that.

You'll be back in action soon enough.

You've had significant surgery to alter your weight through altering your association with food. You know this right? So start altering it and begin to enjoy the losing.

It's OK to feel the way you do. I had my surgery 11 months ago and I remember going through all kinds of emotions. I loved food and lots of it. That's what brought me to the need for the surgery. I found that I went through the similar stages of grief as if I lost a loved one. Anger, depression, ect. It helped me to read about the grieving process. I finally got to the point that food was not my reason for happiness. Things will get better. Follow the directions of your surgeon's office. Don't beat yourself up. A pity party is OK but don't dwell on it. Talk to a therapist if you have to. Get up and walk. Try some flavored Water. I liked Vitamin Water zero. The lemon flavored one tastes just like lemonade. You will be able to Celebrate food with family again. This was a holiday and that was probably rough. You won't always be on liquids. My surgery was last June. I have lost 134 lbs. And I went to my son's for a big BBQ yesterday with all the family. I had a rib, a deviled eggs, small portions of potato salad and baked Beans. I couldn't eat it all. It's not an everyday thing. The point is... I had a great time with family. I wasn't afraid of breaking a lawn chair. I could stand up in the kitchen to help cook the sides. Life After WLS is Good !!!

It gets better! Give it some time (hang in there and allow your body to heal).

Thank you for sharing your feelings. I am preop and never dealt with this with my band but love being prepared to deal with it after my bypass. That is why I love sites like this were we can learn and heal together. I hope you start feeling better about it soon and hopefully will be able to help me in two weeks while I am on the post surgery emotional roller coaster.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
