  1. Well, How is everyone holding up I know that two of you were just banded a few days ago. How is everyone doing with the band? Is anyone still waiting for the band? I just reached my 40lbs goal and have had my second fill! Do any of you have blogs? I have one and am pretty open as to what is going on. Just wanted to see how were are all doing.
  2. I used DR Ortiz!!!!!! I loved the clinic and never once felt unsafe. How was the surgery??????
  3. I would call your doctor. Are you having reflux issues as well?
  4. I had my second fill this weekend and the first couple of days I had this problem and then I realized that I was not drinking/eating slow enough or even small enough sips and bites for the band. It was an eye opener because I thought that I had aleady adjusted my eating. I am still having to fucus on small bites and eating slowly but as long as I do that I am good.
  5. my starting BMI was 56 and I never even considured the sleeve. I am happy with the band and even though I have a lot to lose I know that I can do it if I use the band as a tool and eat right and work out. I agree that you should research the different surgeries but I don't want you to think that the band is not an option. BTW, I had 3 months before my surgery and did not waste a moment on "Last dinners" or lazy days. I lowered my BMI to 51 and lost 30 pounds while waiting. It is amazing how much easier it is to diet and excersize when you have hope in site. For me hope was knowing that soon I would have an aid that would help the weight I was losing stay off and I would be able to get off the roller coaster ride of weight loss.
  6. It does get really frustrating and it is even worse if you are a self pay going to mexico. I just took the advice like some of the other posters and thought about the day when I would be dropping weight and feeling great. Some people are just not well educated on WLS or they are just the type of people that don't like to see others happy. Good luck!
  7. I used Dr Ortiz with the OCC. I loved it. I have a link to the clinc on my blog if you want to check it out. He also has some youtube videos on there to explain things.
  8. It is nice to check in with those on the same timeline! I will add one more question too- Have you had a fill and how did it go? Just had my first fill at 4cc. It was not as bad as I imagined it to be. I have a little restriction but can still eat a bit. How are you doing with weight loss? I am losing about a pound a week. Not fast but at least it is something. How are you emotionally? I was not so good during the liquid phase but now I am doing good. Are you exercising? No. I was everyday before surgery but 3 weeks with nothing got me back into old habits. I am starting this week though. What is your daily routine? up at 5 and eat at 6:30 usually a shake or a couple of crackers lunch- meat and veggies Dinner- child size portion of meat and veggies Snacks- cheese, fruit, crackers What has been the easiest thing so far? So far it has been portion control. I just decided to plate my food like I do my 5 year old and it works. What has been the most difficult? Getting back into working out, not drinking enough, Not being able to drink diet coke
  9. My SIL and I are both Banded PCOS ladies. I have adopted in my time and do not plan on having any more but my SIL just gave birth to her first child this past month. She lost around 90 pounds and dicovered that she was finally going to have a baby. Keep faith it can happen.
  10. I have been fat almost my whole life and when people ask me what I think I will look like I have no clue. I have never been skinny and don't even know what lies under all this fat. I can only hope that it looks better than the fat suit that is over it.
  11. I had to lose 30 pounds before my surgery too! I didn't think I could do it but i never cheated and everytime I got worried I hopped on my elliptical machine and I lost the weight. I used atkins shakes and low carb.... very low carb!
  12. http://fatgirlontheoutside.blogspot.com/ we have started canning meat to make sure we have Protein in our food storage. I also have a bunch of canned veggies. Not a lot of wheat since I know that bread and bread type stuff does not go well with my band. I had no problems with it until I got a fill this weekend. Now I have to toast it and eat very slowly.
  13. I am LDS and I too have wondered where everyone is. I was banded on october 22 in mexico with Dr Ortiz at the OCC. I am feeling great so far and have had no problems. Do you have any questions? I have a blog if you want to read my story so far too.
  14. This is interesting to me because it is close to what I went through. I was banded on 10/22 and during my week of clear liquids I lost 6 pounds but as soon as I switched over to the creamy liquids I gained that six back plus 4 pounds in 2 weeks. I was keeping on the planned eating list and not cheating in anyway. At one point I had a breakdown and just cried and had to be comforted by my husband. After the first week back on solids I lost the 4 pounds and the second week I lost the other 6. I think the creamy foods were just not for me.
  15. what an inspiration. I am losing slowly and am scheduled for my first fill in two weeks and I love to hear about NSV's that other people are having! Great job!
