Yes, I have that pain in the sternum. I think that it is gas. I still have it but is going away little by little.

I'm doing great!!

My surgery was on the 5th at noon - had no complications. The next morning, DH and I took a trip 45 minutes south and I got lots of walking in. Aside from being a little tired and sore, I knew it was in my benefit to be moving around. We took another trip the next day and we were at the zoo for about 5 hours, walking around and standing. I would sit when I needed to.

I went to work Monday with no problems. I do have a desk job. Each day I am less sore each day. By the end of this week, I knew I would almost be back to normal. I really think the key is to be up moving early. The night of my surgery I went to Target - not for long, but I did.

I was really worried about feeling terrible afterwards. I told DH to make sure that I was up and walking around, doing things even if I was complaining that I didn't want to. I knew it was the best to get me on the speedy recovery track!

I took a week off work because we traveled from Florida to Colorado for my surgery. My co-workers all think I was on a great vacation - which I was! They all told me I was looking nice and refreshed from my time away.

I've been reading this thread but I guess I never commented! Sorry!!

Teresa,

I spoke with my doctor yesterday (one week post op) and he explained the pain I was having on my left side up above some of the incisions. He said the tubing to the port was actually put through the muscle and it had to be situated really close to one of my ribs so any movement was pulling on it. He assured me that this pain would finally subside. pureed food on Monday,, YIPEE.

I never tried the MedFast. One week after is just some pain from where the tubing and port is. Still taking pain meds for it. However I have been taken off both of my BP meds. I am eating full/soft liquids. I start pureed food on Monday.

well i was banded on Monday 9/10/07 and well so far so good. I ahve a lot of gas but it is starting to run its course. I am not constipated thats for sure. My rumbling gas reminds me of sever hunger cramps but all in all I am not hungry, but I do have my required liquids. I have been on liquids since last Sunday and before that I was on a semi liquid diet so you bet I could eat but I figured that the surgery cost about 16,000 and well why ruin that for myself. I have lost a lot of weight let me see 28 pounds before surgery and another 12 pounds this week since surgery so that is 40 pounds. I have a large inscision across my belly and 4 other incisions across my tummy and brusing in the lowe ab area I think they leaned on me maybe I was a tough old bird LOL. Dr. Sims from Waco said I did real well. My surgery was 45 minutes long not too bad. I started walking almost once I got to my room and continued on doing so until I went home and I do walk around the house and around the house it helps move the gas around. I had a great team a great Dr. and Staff and a great bunch of people in the OR and hospital. I am feeling so much better and the swelling is going down a lot. good luck to all of you that are waiting to be banded.

Hi everyone,

I am joining the bandwagon on Sept 28, and I am extremely nervous :faint:. At first I was excited about the beginning of a new me. Now that am about to start the liquid pre-op diet it's starting to really sink in that I am about to endure surgery and with that comes gas pains, possible PB's and Sliming, less Mexican food and to top it all off the hubby is deployed to the Middle East (proud Navy wife). So I am doing something major without him. I won't be alone though, my mom is gonna tough it with me...but mom's hugs just aren't the same as the hubby's hugs..ya know. Has anyone else expierienced this kind of nervousness and what did you do to help yourself along?

Thx,

Sweet

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
