Denied due to no disabling condition

Recommended Posts

Obesity is a disease, it needs treatment not delays to treatment... There is no other disease we could have that's met with denial of treatment nor being forced to prove what you have done to treat it... Obesity is the only thing our political correct society has not embraced, it's still socially acceptable to have bias against obesity.

That is because the candy, and chips, and snack food, and fast-food, and soda industry are big bucks!

If they (the powers that be) can push the idea that it is your own fault then they have no responsibility and can keep racking in big bucks!

Imagine a factory was fluding the air with toxic chemicals. People were getting cancer... Not everyone, just some people... And it was getting to be more and more.... Soon a third of everyone was getting cancer from breathing the poison air.

But the company pushed the idea that cancer is a choice. So they can keep polluting.

And the crazy thing was people believed them. Even the sick people would hold their breath or wear a gass mask when out doors... and assume their cancer would go into remission on it's own.

I'm so frustrated. I have done so much to get approved for this surgery and was just told I was denied due to not having a disabling condition that requires this surgery. I meet all their conditions stated in the handbook that says bmi over 40 doesn't require another condition. My bmi is 46, wven after losing 25lbs on my dr supervised diet. We are sending in an appeal. Anyone else go through this?

Just keep in mind the people who review documents job is to not have the insurance company pay out, I feel they deny people just to see how willing they are to fight it...

Good luck

Thanks. My surgeon has a peer to peer set up in 2 weeks. Basically they want comorabities even with high BMI but they lost family history and I have lots of issues in family issues. Going to keep fighting

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
