Bariatric Multi Vitamins ?

Recommended Posts

So for the rest of my life I need to take a bariatric muti Vitamin after sleeve surgery. For my first month I was on a special chewable version and the nutritionist at the office told me at a month to switch to a standard bariatric Vitamin. She told me that I should purchase the Vitamins through the office because they are the best.

I purchased my first month through the office ($30 a bottle), but now I am ready to make the switch at 1 month out. I am an hour away from my Dr. Office and can't count on being near the office for the rest of my life.

I would prefer to just order them online, but they only sell my office's vitamin through the office... Ugg. So my question is, what vitamin do you use for a bariatric muti vitamin? can you order it online? do you think my weight loss center is just trying to make money?

Thoughts?

I just take a Gummy Multivitamin everyday. I purchased mine from Walmart. My surgeon said it just needed to be a Multivitamin didn't specify what brand but when I told him it's a gummie womens Vitamin he said that was fine. That's ridiculous to have to pay that much for Vitamins. BTW I was sleeved on 3/23 and I'm doing great and have lost 30 pounds.

You don't have to buy fancy, high-priced Vitamins, just so you know. I use Centrum chewables.

The Sleeve doesn't have any malabsorption aspect like bypass does. So you can get buy with normal Vitamins.

Not sure-- I asked if I could get them online and the woman said no that they only sell them through WLC. I may call to get the brand and check online just to see.

My surgeon gave me a list of Vitamins and dosage amounts. He doesn't require a specific brand. I take a regular multi in addition to individual supplements (c, Iron, B12, b1, d3, d+k). I look for sales.

Flintstones chewable were listed on the paperwork from my surgery center. They are very affordable and very available anywhere. The other supplement recommended was a viactiv Calcium chew. Again cheap and available. I do feel your center might be trying to make money off of you if they want you to only buy their Vitamins.< /p>

They just trying to make you buy theirs!!!! It is not required like with a bypass. All you need is Multi-Vitamin, B12, C,D and Calcium for the first few months until you are eating most of the foods that will give you what you need. Then only a multivitamin is needed. As a woman you can always use extra D and calcium.

I've been buying the Celebrate Multivitamins online. They're designed for bariatric patients and more reasonable than what they sell at my doctor. They are $16 for a one month supply and $40 for a four or five month supply. They're capsules and much easier to keep down.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
