I wouldn't wait till Monday. Are you drinking enough water?

They told me to start with a minimum of 30 oz and go from there. Right now I'm around 32-35 oz each day. 5 days post op.

I am having surgery on Monday. June 27th. I was originally scheduled for July 18th but they had a cancellation and now I'm freaking. I had planned how I would handle the month waiting, be really organized and ready. Now my brain is a mess! I had ten days to prepare when I found out I got bumped up. I'm sure it'll work out fine, it's just a little nerve wracking.

Good luck! Try and get as much rest tomorrow as you can!

No, but it sounds like thrush:

"You may notice a white, cottage cheese-like coating on your tongue after surgery. Your tongue may also be very red and inflamed. Most likely you have thrush, which is a yeast overgrowth in the mouth. Often, this is due to large amounts of antibiotics taken before surgery. Call your primary care doctor if you have an oral infection or a rash on your skin."

Try to get more water in. I'm over 60oz. I sip it like a baby bottle, and sip away. Been able to do 4oz in 15 mins that way

I'm able to drink almost normal now. 100oz is no problem for me at 25 days out

I'm only at day 6 though so I'm still sipping slowly. I do about 2 oz every 15 minutes.

Gatorade g2 or propel water were recommended by my surgeon

I'm having such a hard time getting in my fluids :( Ive tried multiple things but after about 2 hours of sipping I feel sick and like a ton of bricks in my stomach. Can we have Gatorade??

Day 5 after surgery, and I was finally able to meet my hydration goals! It's still pretty hard, and drinking still painful at times. That came at the expense of my protein though. 62oz fluids, and only 31g of 70g protein. Interestingly, even though I prefer to drink water, it seems to cause me the most problems, so I've been using diluted apple juice, which is less than ideal. Oh well, not going to worry about how much sugar that's hitting me with until I can comfortably drink water again.

Well, today's the day! I'm kind of numb at the moment, not sure how I feel. I got a call and surgeries are running late so we wait! At least we hadn't left the house yet. I had things planned just so, so I wouldn't have a lot of time to wait and get anxious... oh well! I wish I could drink water, but I'll deal. Two hours before I can even leave the house. Going to knit because I can't focus on a book or show right now. Wish me luck!

Best of luck! We've all been there. You will do fine. The hardest part is the wait. Remember, when all is said and done, it'll be worth it.
