I had my surgery on Feb 29, and the first two weeks were really difficult because I had interior sutures and they were so painful not even painkillers helped. I wanted to see if anyone else had issues with pain. Everything else is going okay, the pain has gotten better but for that time it was unbearable. My mom is having the surgery but now she is terrified after seeing how much pain I had at 25 years old. Thank you!

The pain from the gas they inflate your tummy with was horrible at first. And painkillers don't touch it. By 3 weeks it was tolerable, but still there at times. Are you sure it's suture pain rather than gas pain?

If it's gas pain, moving as much as possible and taking gas-X strips will help get rid of it, but it still takes time because the gas has to be reabsorbed by your body.

Also if it might be gas, try avoiding gas-making foods such as dairy (milk, whey, casein, yogurt, etc), Beans (if you aren't used to eating them), and cruciferous veggies. Or take Lactaid with the milk products and Bean-O for the gassy foods.

Yes I'm sure it wasn't gas pain because I was very good about taking the gas-x strips right after surgery and moving around. My doctor is the one who told me it was the sutures because there was a issue during surgery with my intestines and said they I would experience pain for 4-6 weeks from them.

I am going once a day now and that makes me happy. I do two colace a day, two Probiotics, two Gummy fibers I added back in coffee. (Asked dr first) on the weekends when I don't have to leave the house I drink 10 sips of prune juice first thing in the morning. That gets me going in about 30 Mins. (Gastric bypass)

I also do Greek yogurt with kashi go lean original and I have veggies with every meal. I hope this helps.being stopped up is miserable. Oh and the Smooth Move tea is good too. I try to stay away from taking stuff that I will become dependent on though. Once in a while it can't hurt.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
