Worried about Gastric sleeve with a 12 month old baby?

Recommended Posts

My surgery date is set for March 28th. I'm really nervous about taking care of my 12 month old son afterwards.he weighs 26 lbs. (Yikes)!has anyone been thru this or have any knowledge of any problems I might face?I guess I just need some reassurance or some guidelines.

I have a 13 month old baby.. i just had surgery on the 16th.. its really hard. You need someone to stay with you and help with your child. You will not be able to carry them. Remember take care of yourself because even if you feel okay your insides are not. Trust me my son cried and called out to me and i went to grab him and hurt myself.. I understand a mothers love but please take care.. good luck :)

I'm so nervous about this too! I have a 6 yrs old a 2 1/2yr old and an 18month old. The 18 month old is still in a crib needing to be picked up etc. they also love to jump on me. It's a concern. I have csection and probably lifted way to soon also.

You will not be able to lift 20+ pounds for 4 weeks. Not to change a diaper. Or put the baby in the crib. Or the car seat. Or in the shopping cart. Talk to your surgeon so you really understand the risks of ignoring the weight restrictions.

I started the process with a 2 year old. And due to the lifting restrictions I ended up waiting a year. That turned into 18 months because my insurance requirements changed. But for me, it was smarter than giving myself a hernia and an extra trip to the OR.

I am too worried about this I have 10yr old, 8yr, 4yr and a 9month old so is going to be crazy. On top of that my husband works out of town even though he is taking 6weeks off my 9month old is way too attached to me so is going to be interesting.

Good luck to you all. 8 more days [emoji85][emoji85]

I had originally started the process 2 years ago. I was all approved by insurance and then found out I was pregnant (total surprise unplanned) so obviously I had to hold off. My approval was good until right after I had the baby but I didn't want to

Rush another surgery fresh out of pregnancy with a newborn. So my approval expired and my insurance has since changed. I went back to the same surgeon I was approved for last time I did my NUT and psych eval and now I find out my insurance doesn't cover this particular surgeon. So now I go this week to a seminar with a new group that's covered under my plan and now hopefully I can get this going with out any more set back. My husband will be taking some time off to help with the kids and my mom as well. I just have to make myself used to getting help and not

Over doing it with the kids until I'm fully healed.

Start getting the young ones used to it now. Say something like "mommy has an owie tummy" when they want to jump or climb on you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
