Lol-I grew up in The Thumb...Saginaw was "the city" to me as a kid!!

I see from your name you had sleeve surgery on March 3rd--how are you doing???

I've already had my bloodwork done and I have my psych eval on Mar 24, then my surgery consult on April 5th--my insurance does not require the 6 mo diet for my BMI, so I'm very hopeful this process can move quickly once I meet with the surgeon. The surgeon requires attending 2 monthly support group meetings before surgery and I already went to one, so that's an easy requirement to fill. For work purposes my target is to have surgery in June...fingers crossed!!

I'm curious why you chose the sleeve? I'm waiting to speak to the surgeon obviously to make a final decision, but am leaning towards RNY. Only 10 days off work is amazing!! I'm very concerned my boss will freak about the recovery time--I work at a desk, so that's a plus for returning quickly.

I went with sleeve because my Dr strongly encouraged it I'm only 37 he thought I would recover alot faster so I trusted him.up until today I haven't had a single issue really.I ate too fast and ended up throwing up.I knew it would happen sometime.wasn't that bad though.my bmi was 51 when I started if you haven't yet go to a gym and start getting into the routine of working out.if I could give any mental advice I would slowly start giving things up so you start getting use to not having a few things.

I have lots of questions for my surgeon so I can decide which one to have. I had my gallbladder out 5 yrs ago & have some "issues" with the first meal of the day from that, so we'll see what he says.

I was trying to write out a little "give up" plan (remove something every week)--but since I'm not seeing my surgeon until April 5th & I'm assuming they will weigh/measure me at that appointment & I have to have a 50 BMI before they submit it all to my insurance, I figured I would start giving stuff up that week. Of course I could start the gym now, better get on that!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
