First day of the rest of my life... Take 2!

Recommended Posts

In t-minus 9(ish) hours I will be wheeled in to get this dreadful contraption out of me and my tummy will be transformed into a sleeve. I was banded in December 2009 and about 8 months ago began feeling the worst I've ever felt. Nothing would stay down, not even Water. I have since heard similar stories multiple times. After a few months of appointments and waiting on insurance I'm finally heading in to surgery. I'm excited, scared, nervous, happy... all kinds of emotions are going through me right now. I was very successful with the band. Started at a lower BMI and ultimately lost about 60 pounds when I was at my lowest of 132. I never thought I would let myself gain weight again. I had my amazing son and just couldn't get those last 10 pounds off then the band slipped and I went down hill from there. Since having it unfilled in November, while the dr was trying to do and EGD and couldn't get the scope through, I have gained 25 pounds! I knew I would gain some, going from eating nothing to pretty much all I wanted, but I've gained more than I thought. I now know for sure that this is the best choice for me. I need this tool, I can't do it alone. I'm not worried about portions or not eating like I have the last few months, I loved the band. I love taking a couple of bites and being satisfied. I'm ready to get to that feeling again. I'm most worried about the pain. But I keep telling myself it's just temporary, I will heal and I will begin this second weight loss journey, no looking back now!

Hi galley gal, I'm only 8 days out from my sleeve surgery. I had the band for about 6 years and had the same experience as you. I had minimal pain afterwards and am looking forward to my mushies stage next week good luck with everything!

Best of luck to you! I'm now 5 days post op from having my band out and sleeve revision and I feel GREAT. I also had my gallbladder out. Not much pain past day 3 at all.

So far I am definitely very happy with my decision.

Well, I'm all sleeved! Surgery went well today. I've slept a lot, the pain is minimal, more of a discomfort than pain. Hopefully tonight will be a good night.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
