Hawaii pre & post bansters

Recommended Posts

Hi Mescla, I finally found your thread. Hi to the other two ladies. Hi Hawaii girl, and Hi also to Castle... Yes, my hubby had his surgery by doctor fowler on July 11th and he is down 48 pounds, and is doing really, really well. I have my surgery set for August 29th. Usually all of his post op appts. are done the following friday so for you two, it should be on the 24th of August, so since my pre op appt is on Fri. the 24th of August. My husband and I may see you. He is also going in for his first fill on the 24th also. Good Luck, the staff at Castle is awesome. They took great care of my dearest husband. We will be staying at Laie Inn for my post surgery. For a few days. Good luck once again. Keep us posted on your progress. Welcome to Bandland.....

Aloha gals,

I just checked my schedule and it looks like surgery is 11:45 on Wednesday, so I will find out during more pre-op appt. on tuesday exactly what time to check in, but looks like we will meet in the room for prep. I have always described myself as the "chunky blonde haole." I look forward to some new definitions of myself. I know the 3 of us will become friends because not everyone out there understand, not even family members. I am going through these mood swings of extreme excitement and then lots of anxiety. Yet, deep in my heart I know this is sooooo right. I also am doing it to be around for a long time. My health has gone down so much in the last couple of years. Here we are in paradise and I just want to hide in my elastic waist band pants. I am so ready for this. I have all my liquids for post op and chewable vitamins and have just finished reading 2 great books on lap banding. I highly recommend planning. Take care, aloha,

Aloha girls! It's so nice to have a support system who knows what I'm going through. The diet is going good and bad. I've had a headache and low energy all day. I actually ate half a pop tart and some rice and macaroni salad with my shoyu chicken for dinner.< img src="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/default_wink.png" alt=";)" srcset="https://s.bariatricpal.com/uploads/emoticons/wink@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Mary, the nutritionist, basicallly told me to try not to cheat before the surgery so after I wouldn't be so starving and so my stomach could shrink but I can't help myself. I did go to the gym today and did some strength training and walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes and I was wiped out.:faint:I also go to 24 hour so maybe sometimes we can go together for support. Kaohinani, it's so awesome that your husband lost so much weight in just one month! Castle-It's kind of weird that your surgery is at 11:45 and mine is at 11:30. Maybe he'll lay us side by side and take turns putting bands in. Oh yeah, go to the ticker factory website and set up your info then copy and paste the info in the first box into your signature. Let me know if you need more help with that. Anyways, I hope to see you all soon

Hi folks, just checking in to see where people are at in their journies..

I went to the seminar and have attempted to fill out the paperwork three times now... kids and schedules have not permitted me to finish it.. i brought it to work with me this morning to see if i can get through the packet. I will have to visit with my doc to do the referral part as well... How are you ladies with the 15th surgery date coming up??

Aloha Ladies,

I am down to details now...got my final shopping done. Have my clothes ready for when I return from the hospital. I figure i will lay around in sarongs & watch tv. I actually think I am trembling inside. last night we had our sunday family dinner. i will confess that I had a very hearty dinner. I want to eat very little today and tomorrow to clear out a bit before surgery on Wednesday. I verified with Jennifer about the time. I "check in & register" tomorrow. Then I go straight to surgery at 8:00a.m. on Wednesday. I can't really focus on anything else but all of this. I need to work for the next couple of days to clear out my schedule but I can't think about anything and would love to read everything on lapband.

all the best, Kathleen

Aloha Miriam,

Your physician's referral is not a big deal. I am sure they will be understanding and supportive. The packet will flow. One question at a time. It all sounds a bit overwhelming but it really is one step at a time, it can go very quickly. Afterall, here I am and its almost Aug. 15th! Hope you are working on it now:) I have your phone number and will give a call. Aloha, Kathleen

Well ladies, my hubby and I live on Kauai, so we will not be seeing you at the support groups although it would be nice. They are wanting dave to start one here on Kauai, which he probably will do after my surgery. Good luck to both of you on Wednesday. I am soooooo excited for you. Good Luck, and remember to walk and sip.

we have used the whey Protein from the Vitamin store, and also some from the GNC. Both are good, but we got the better deal at the vitamin store. I use 2 scoops in 1 cup of skim milk. I guess you could use Water, which is the recommmend liquid, but I can't get past the taste of the whey when I just mix it with water, so I use the skim milk. I need the Calcium anyway. Good Luck

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
