If you change your mind, do they have to give you your money back?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering.... if you change your mind before the surgery, do they have to give you your money back? I know some is a non-refundable deposit (here in Canada at least) but I was wondering if they have to give you back the rest? Does anyone know? :)

I would hope noone would get that far and back out. It was easier than having my root canal done. I'm so glad that 12 months ago, knowing I was going to Mexico that I didn't back out 80 pounds lighter. I would have gained 80 since then without my band.

Are you thinking of backing out. I know its scary and a huge life change. But just remember it will probably be the best thing health wise we can do for ourselves. We are all here to help you with whatever questions you have. I went back and forth for about a month. I am scheduled for next Wednesday August 1 and it can't get here soon enough for me.

Good luck to you and take care of yourself.

Nancy

Aloha Kero

Please don't back out, I'm 2 weeks post-op and down another 20 Lbs. for a total of 41. It was the best thing I've ever done for myselft, wait forget myself the best thing I ever done for my wife and kids, because hopefully I'll be around a lot longer and can take care of them and be a better husband, father and a healther one to boot. So please hang in there and go ahead and get it done.

Aloha

Hi Kero-

I too am going through the Canadian process. I think the "non-refundable" portion is just that- non-refundable. However, I know when I paid the remainder of my surgercial fees I signed a "concent" form, and I can't remember if those fees are non-refunable...let me check...nope there is nothing in my paperwork that says the fees are non-refundable. But I am more than two months away from my BIG day. Kero this is a life changing moment and you have to be 100% commited to it. If you don't feel ready for whatever reason then go talk to your doctor and see if she or he can help you. I am sure that if they have not paid for the operating room you can get your money refunded. Good luck, and I hope you do what is best for you.

Thanks Munchkinkan, Big Wave Dave. cookielover etc. . You guessed right. I was panicking this past weekend. It was odd. I suddenly felt like I was taking the easy way out and got quite down on myself about it. I started to tell myself I was weak and just needed to buckle down and diet properly. I think this was fueled by losing weight on the pre-op diet, seeing that loss actually gave me false hope that I could do it on my own..... then I cheated, and now I have gained a few pounds back, which reminds me of the yo-yo dieting I have done all my life and the fact that I don't want to do it anymore! I know I have to do this, but part of me still feels that I should be able to do it on my own, I guess that feeling is just culturally reinforced and will probably stay with me. But, it is Monday, and I am being banded on Thursday, and I will do it! And can't wait for the rest of my life to start! Thanks sooooo much for all of your support..... it is so helpful to hear from people who understand the emotions behind these issues! THANK YOU ALL!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
