Hi! I have my EGD on Wednesday (13th) and what should be final appointment with my surgeon a week later (20th). We'll discuss my Ultrasound results from last week and my EGD findings. Everything else has been COMPLETED!!! I'm thinking that they will prepare my file to be submitted to insurance before January is up. But curious if they will go ahead and schedule my surgery on the 20th as well? Pending insurance approval of course. I want to say I have read where others received surgery dates before their file had been submitted.

I am so ready to give my employer an exact date to help them plan around my absence. The more advance the better. They've been better than I could have ever expected with this process and all it entails. The numerous dr visits and allowing me to miss work for them...I will forever be grateful. I feel like I owe them a generous heads up if possible!

Every surgeons office is different as to when they schedule your surgery. Unfortunately mine does not schedule before the insurance is approved. If this was the case, I would have a date right now :( My surgeons office said it could take up up FOUR weeks to hear from the insurance. I think that is an exaggeration. She probably told me this so I wouldn't call and bug the crap out of them! So just call and ask them.

I'm conflicted as to how much time I need to ask my employer to be off work. What about you? I'm sure whatever time I ask for I could end up needing more.

@@animallover1247 Oh dear- I hope they don't make me wait. But I've waited plenty during this process so what's a little more going to hurt? ;) I'm really wanting the date more for my employer but they're understanding so...hopefully they don't start hounding me for exact dates.

I'm having RNY done and was told to ask for 2 weeks off. When I go back to work I'll be limited on my duties for a couple of days just because it can be physically demanding at times. I was told that the recovery time for VSG & RNY are pretty much the same. (I had originally planned on VSG and was happy about the recovery time. My surgeon pushed for RNY which I'm fine with and reassured me that I wouldn't be out any longer than I'd originally planned. Bonus!)

When was your paperwork submitted??

Well, to be honest I am not sure of the exact date my paperwork was submitted. I received an email on 12.30 stated my file would be given to the person who submits to the insurance. I called the insurance company on January 5th and they had not received anything but it had only been a couple of days with the holiday. I think it should've been submitted by now so I will be calling them tomorrow. I hope my paperwork is not sitting on someones desk gathering dust bunnies! If my paperwork has not been submitted, I will be calling my surgeons office.

I haven't told work yet. I'm sure they know something is up because of me taking off to get all of the pre-op requirements completed. I didn't see the need until I was approved by the insurance.

I am really glad your work has been so supportive,I think the support is priceless. Not sure how my co-workers are going to act.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
