Chapstick, ear plugs, heating pad, easy slip on shoes (or slippers) to wear for your walks and Gas-X.

I didn't even bring 5 things. I brought my phone and an extra long charger, a brush, and lip balm.

I wore loose comfy clothes in and wore the same ones home. The hospital gave me a small pillow to hold on the ride home. They also provided slipper socks. I wore the hospital gown and then put another on backwards as a robe when I was walking the halls. There was a never a time where I wished I'd brought something that I didn't.

I really didn't need much in the hospital - they provided it all from chapstick to toothpaste and toothbrush - it was pretty incredible! I would make sure you bring some easy slip on shoes for the walking the halls. I did not need a change of clothes, just wore what I went in with. You'll be asleep most of the time anyway. Good luck!

I'm wondering about the Gasx..did you who took some have to hide it? Most hospitals will not let you bring outside remedies in. My dad couldn't use cough drops or his Vicks inhaler and another wouldn't let my father Inlaw take Tylenol that my mother Inlaw had.

Just curious :)

What are the top 5 thing you brought? I have surgery planned for January 8th....I kinda have an idea of what to bring....but it doesn't hurt to ask everyone else!

1) smartphone with an external battery back-up so you don't have to plug into a wall charger

2) loose fitting gym clothes

3) slip on sneakers from New Balance.....best dang shoes you'll ever buy. Makes those hospital laps easier and you'll wear them around the house forever.

4) large pillow to hold against your abdomen on the car ride home. It helps a great deal.....especially when you hit Patches of bumpy road

5) have your prescription pain meds already filled. You may want to dose up for the trip home. My sleeve wasn't a source of pain at all.....but the abdominal hernia repair was tender. I had a total of 8 incision locations. Looks cool now.....like I was in some type of adventure.

Best wishes for you.

It was a great decision for me. Very grateful for the progress so far and even more grateful for the progress that is sure to come over the next few months........

My favorite item was pajama bottoms. I couldn't put my robe on due to the iv, so it was so nice having something covering my booty on my walks!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
