Recommended Posts

hi everyone. Just thought I'd heck this out. I am almost to my surgery. Have my meet the surgeon appointment on the 21st. Has take almost a year to get to this point so I'm super excited.

Where is everyone at in their process? How long has it taken you to get here? What was the big factor in making this decision?

Look forward to hearing from everyone

Kris

Hi Kris,

I'm new here too, I too am in Ontario, I am scheduled for surgery Tuesday December 15, my processes has been super fast so I'm still trying to wrap my head around all of it. I'm on day 8 of Opti Fast, have lost 8lbs on it, miss food like crazy but hanging on!

I was referred in June of this year, but I have been thinking of doing this for 2 years so I had all the stuff I needed done before hand done.

I was so sick and tired of being sick and tired and fighting with my weight, no longer liked who I saw in the mirror so here I am!

Hope you get your date soon!

Hello and welcome! :) I had my RNY in August and I'm down about 70 pounds since then. I started thinking about it last year, and the program took about 7 months once I got going. Feel free to friend/message me if there's anything I can do to help you. It's a great site full of awesome people here.

Hi everyone thanks for the responses. For me the process will have taken just over a year from referral to surgery. Like everyone else I have always struggled with my weight up and down. Being an ex smoker who never quit quiting as they say didn't help the weight much. (Smoke free for 13 months)As my son got older and more active I found myself lacking the energy or drive to keep up with him. I had quit smoking so I could be around for his future so I finally decided to do make a drastic change with my overall health and seen my family doctor who recommended the clinic in Windsor. Bypass had been something I thought about in the past but never thought I was large enough for it. Turns out I was and then some. I look forward to receiving my gift and making the best of it so that I can be around for my son and hopefully grandkids one day.

Hi Krispye,

I had my gastric bypass on September 4, 2015. I live in Windsor Ontario but had my surgery in Mexico. Any questions you have feel free to PM me. I have previously had the lapband and sleeve so I am a wealth of knowledge!

Good Luck!

I too quit smoking 7 years ago, that DID NOT help with weight, but I don't for one minute regret doing it. And oh by the way I just became a Grandma! Super awesome best thing ever! So I want to get my health back for my kids and grandchild as much as I want this for myself

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
