I am a stress sweater. On the morning of my surgery and up to the end of week 1, I smelled like armpit SO BAD. I was shaving, scrubbing w/ apricot scrub, antibacterial soap, applying the expensive deodorant twice per day, I even went so far as to put peroxide soaked cotton balls under my arms for 2 minutes. The smell finally went away. I'm pretty sure it was hormone related....

My boyfriend has actually mentioned something like this, though I haven't noticed, which is odd because my sense of smell has been near superhuman levels since surgery. I smell Water when I turn the sink on. But he says that I don't smell better or worse, just different. It would make sense, because our bodies go through HUUUUUGE metabolic and hormonal changes.

I smelt different after surgery. I think the Vitamins did something to me. That was back when I was on straight liquids. My breath was horrible and my body odor and urine was different. I am 7 weeks out and glad to report I am back to normal.

My smell after surgery was different. Not better or worse just different. Not sure if I got use to it or if it went back.

I'm curious about this too. Twice in the last five days I've been in close quarters with people, not aware that I smelled like so much BO. Worst was Christmas Day. You are probably thinking, how can she not smell herself? I don't have a sensitive smeller. I didn't notice until I was in the car driving home. I'm so embarrassed that I can't even think of a way to apologize. Christmas Day! I'm horrified. I'm eight weeks out from surgery. I'm washing the same, same deodorant. I got some much stronger deodorant today and m going to wash and reapply several times a day. I've been sweating excessively too. Like hot flashes but hot flashes on steroids. But I haven't had those in about 15 years. I'm thinking it has to be related to hormones. I've lost about 52 pounds and I figure all that fat had to be hanging onto hormones that my body is now throwing off. Then the odor causing bacteria are having a sweat party and making me smell just awful. Anyone else have anything like this?

I just had a guy I was dating tell me that my smell bothers him. I am stunned and horrified. I shower every day and use deodorant. I have never had anyone mention this before, so it has to be a post-surgery thing. Shame....I really liked this guy....

I never did understand people complain about BO. It's natural to not smell like flowers all day long. Especially after going through a medical procedure. You will smell different. Your body is losing fat and hormones need to adjust. It's fine. Nothing to feel bad about.

The smell is definitely different and it isn't a "better or different " kind of smell. It doesn't smell good and must be addressed.I can't identify it but constant showers ,moisturizer and I wear fragrant oils....

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
