I am 20, 4 days post-op and very concerned.

  • Popular Post

I made one of the hugest decisions of my life 4 days ago to have the VSG (which I'm sure many of you did ????) and I'm honestly at a crossroads here. I'm deciding if I regret getting the sleeve or if it's the best thing I've done.

I'm sitting here thinking to myself "what the hell have I done to my body?". My stomach is bruised and sore, I'm nauseated and I feel completely out of control of myself and out of the loop. Im emotionally vulnerable and feel very sensitive at times. I'm craving weird things. I'm afraid that I did let food once control my lifestyle because the past few days... Food has been the main thing I think about. I barely can drink anything. The sight of ANYTHING involving Protein makes me sooo queasy! I'm having a very difficult time reaching my Fluid and protein intake.

On the other hand, I know that this will be a POSITIVE life changing experience! I try to stay optimistic in regards of the matter but sometimes you have to face the truth. I miss eating food. I didn't realize how much food consumed me but I do miss it. I'm slowly getting over the notion of eating how I use to but it's just hard. It's one of the hardest things I've had to do in my life but nevertheless, I will patiently wait to see that rainbow.

I have to say that this site with everyones inquiries has been my lifeline since 3 months before the surgery to 4 days post OP. This site is amazing. The people are uplifting and inspiring. I guess I had to write down everything to truly understand how I am feeling. I know that this will be a tough journey but I am ready for it. Whoever read this, thanks for your attention and good luck on your journey as well. ????

I am going to have surgery Nov 23rd. I have had friends who have said, "what have I done to myself" after their sleeve, but all have said that it gets better. So I'm going in with my eyes open and taking it one day at a time! Say a prayer for me next Monday around 9:30am!

I'm November 23rd too! I'm right there with you, eyes open and 1 day at a time!

I having surgery on the 27th, the day after thanksgiving. I'm a senior and am both excited and nervous.

I'll be going to the the hospital and retuning home alone so please pray there will be no complications.

I'm glad for this support venue and hope to hear from many. I did not want to inform anyone except my family who are all out of state so I will be leaning on you for support.

Azbaker, good luck and i know what you mean. I have a friend taking time off to be with me at the hospital, then im on my own at home. Only my cats to help me. Surgery 12/14/15.

Thank you all so much for sharing. My surgery date is December 9th and I get anxious just thinking about it.

Reading posts on this site help me know what I may have to deal with and lets me prepare mentally.

Good luck on your journey, you've got this!

Azbaker, prayers to you and keep in touch. Surgery 12/9/15

7 days post- op gastric sleeve, just want to chew on something !!!! I've been on the clear liquid phase and can't seem to get the protein in :( It took me 3 days after the surgery to be able to keep any fluids down. Now I can drink chicken broth and crystal light till the cows come home but can't handle the protein drinks (I hate milk so shakes don't work). I've been sipping isopure protein drinks but don't seem to make a dent in the amount I need. I'm experiencing a lot of reflux and gas pains as well as episodes of shaking uncontrollably, is this due to not getting the protein in ? I just want to start eating egg whites and stop the protein drinks. Is it too soon to be able to handle egg whites? The good news is I have no problem exercising and I've lost 22lbs since starting the pre op diet 2 weeks prior to sx ( my sx date was nov 16). I'm turning into a 'hangry" person, trying to stay positive but running out of energy :( any suggestions would be greatly appreciated !!!!!

Can't believe in 12 hours I will be arriving at the hospital. Best of luck!!
