Hey guys, I'm having surgery one month from today and I have to be honest I'm starting to get a little bit of cold feet. Did anyone else feel this way as their surgery got closer? Need some advice!

I have been beyond excited about getting this done but the closer it gets the more I realize everything is about to change.

Just wondering if this is a normal thing to go through.

Thanks a ton!

I'm 6 weeks out & wish it was tomorrow. Make weekly goals so you stay focused. I can't wait but, looking forward to cutting more calories each week & losing another 15+ lbs before surgery.

of course it's normal to feel nervous. This is a huge life changing event. Personally I definately had cold feet and second thoughts leading up to the surgery. And honestly even for some time after my surgery I still had moments of regret when I wasn't feeling well or thinking about some kind of food I shouldn't eat. But the surgery and this journey have definately been well worth it. I only wish I had done this some years earlier.

good luck to you

It’s normal to be nervous before the surgery, I think we all go through the questioning in our heads.

Is this right for me? Will it be painful? How am I going to cope with so little food in the first few months? And on and on. However we all get through it and I can honestly say that it’s been one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life. Believe in yourself and your inner strength, you CAN do it.

I've got cold feet, too. Cold hands, cold nose, cold everything. Side effect from WLS...

I had my surgery two and a half years ago and I've lost 112 pounds. I'm healthier than I've been in more than 20 years. I can run, I can climb, I can dance. My clothes are cute, I can reach my toenails, and I don't sweat just doing my hair. My heart is healthy, I no longer have foot or knee pain and am no longer pre-diabetic.

No regrets.

@@lesley_vsg -- Cold feet are part of the territory for many endeavors, surgery and other. Maybe the first day of H.S. was one of yours... and look at you now

What helps me when I'm facing the unknown is to take a slow approach to preparing. Spread out buying the clear liqs and other supplies you'll need for the week or so after surgery. Straighten up the house in stages so that, when you're back from the hospital, you'll feel most comfortable in surroundings (e.g., get the cold-feet socks off the floor). In short, stretch out your preparations so that you're occupied over time; better than whizzing through the tasks. These aren't intellectually-challenging tasks, but at least they fill time, leaving less time to fret.

On the morning of surgery, change the sheets and put fresh towels out. It's nice to have a crisp bed if you want a nap once you're home again.

All normal. I was nervous up until the anesthesia kicked in. So glad I didn't back out. I've never felt better. Threatening ailments no longer exists in my life. Approaching 3 yrs post op and my only regret was not doing it sooner.

You'll be okay. Be patient with yourself. Good Luck to you.

Thank you so much for all of your responses, it's comforting to know that I am not the only one who has had these thoughts and feelings. I am still very excited and ready for this new beginning and I know in the long run it will be a great decision.

Thanks again, it really means a lot and I'm glad to have people who understand where I'm coming from to talk to!!

my surgery is in 4 days! I can hardly wait and want to get it over with. I am starting to get nervous, even tho I have has surgeries before, this is a big deal they're removing most of my stomach...just stick with it you won't regret it, I can't wait until I can buy clothes and look good in them and get off all these medications I take. the pre-op diet no lie is brutal, but I've already lost 25lbs which motivates me to keep going...

You're never the only one. None of us is. That's the up and the down side of wanting to be unique.

It's a major life change, so of course you're nervous. We all were. It's a very normal human emotion, perfectly in balance to everything you're going through. I can say for me, it was definitely worth it! Best of luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
