I'm 12 days post op and the last 3 protein shakes (premier chocolate and Adkins cookies and cream have given me diarrhea. There's really no sugar in there just wondering what it could be? The isopure drinks don't have that affect. It didn't happen early on either just recently. Am I alone?

I never had the problem with the Premier shakes but do have the problem with the Isopure. I guess everyone is different.

This is perfectly normal at 12 days post-op. Your new stomach is going to react in a variety of weird ways, (diarrhea, gas, constipation, pain) even to things that haven't bothered you before. This is a MAJOR change to your digestive system. It will take time for your body to adjust. I am nearly a year out and I am still occasionally surprised at how some things affect me. It gets better. Just stay hydrated and keep doing what you are supposed to do. You have got this!

Premier shakes are milk based that could be causing the diarrhea. I'm 5 days post op and the premier kills me everytime. It's all I drank before surgery. My surgeon warned me this could happen.

If you're using powder, try mixing it with almond milk instead of regular milk.

Thanks for the responses. I will try different shakes for now and see if that helps.

Just to mention this since I don't see it above, pay attention the sugar alcohols in whatever shakes you buy. Too much of those have a laxative effect.
