3 days after surgery (Oct 21) and so much gas!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I just got the sleeve done 3 days ago, and I am struggling. I'm in so much pain, because of the gas stuck in my stomach area. I've talked to a few people about the recovery but they all say it wasn't too painful and a fast recovery. I'm feeling in the odds because of this. I'm almost starting to feel a little regretful. I just got really hungry today, but my body doesn't too well with liquids, so I'm drinking maybe 2-4oz of apple juice a day.

I just got discharged from the hospital for the first day, so I feel more comfortable that I'm home now.

Also, this might be a little bit of a TMI, but I woke up to having my period after surgery. The nurses joked with me saying, "boy, when it rains, it sure does pour, huh?"

Walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip. You don't want to end up back in hospital with dehydration. It does get easier and each day is much better than the previous one. Mix the apple juice with the same ounces of Water, don't drink it neat.

You have been through a massive operation and its very early days. Give it time. You CAN do this!

Hugs and congratulations!!

6 days out now. The gas is starting to get better now. I am forcing myself to walk everyday and taking the gas chewing tablets.

TMI: my poop looks weird and I am not sure if I should be concerned.

@@1000000 - There is no option in this. You have to at least sip Water. 2 -4 ounces a day is not enough. This is the time to challenge yourself. Walk and sip, walk and sip. Some have found gas x strips helpful. If you get dehydrated you will only feel worse.

OMG, I had such terrible gas pain after my VGS on 10/29/15. I took no narotics in the hospital or out. I walked and took lots of Gas X. I also realized all the things they tell you to drink are sugar free. My body had a really hard time with the sugar alcohols. Once I stopped, the pain improved. Just in case someone else is struggling

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
