6 weeks post op...can't tolerate as much food

Recommended Posts

Perhaps this has been discussed before, if so, my apologies...

I'm 6 weeks post sleeve...losing fine, plowed through first stall...eating 60 g low fat Protein daily (meats, eggs, etc), little to no carbs, working out for a hour 5 days a week. However, it seems like now, after being on this diet for over 2 weeks, I seem to not be able to eat as much as I did 2 weeks ago. I was eating 2.5-3.5 oz of protein (like diced chicken or shrimp)...now I can barely get in 2 oz and I'm feeling that really full feeling, almost to nausea. I chew to applesauce consistency and still get this feeling....so I cut back, and eating more often. Is this normal after eating more amount for a couple weeks, and then not being able to eat as much?

But even that leaves me to another issue....since I eat more often, but less each time, having to wait 30-45 minutes to drink in between, I'm now struggling to get in the 64 oz of Water. Good grief, it's like I am constantly putting something in my mouth! (this part was merely a rant)

Congrats on your journey!

I am experiencing some issues with eating too. I barely can tolerate two bites and I feel nausea, so still been supplementing with Protein shakes to get to the 60g

Yesterday I tried ground chicken breast and it worked so much better for me. I too can barely get 64oz of Water.

Hope this is a passing phase

It is probably normal.. the honeymoon period begins!

I know not everyone agreed with this, but i had to have at least one low carb Protein drink a day to hit Protein targets.

I am about to move to the soft food stage and somehow I am supposed to be getting vegetables in. Right now I am in the pureed stage and the only way I can get all my Protein in is by drinking Protein Shakes. I am so sick of those shakes. The volume of food I can eat is so small that I am worried about being able to tolerate an advance in my diet.

I'm in the soft food stage and not able to eat much. I have 1 Protein Shake and it fills me up. I feel like i'm not getting enough nutrients, eventhough I'm never hungry. Any advice?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
