Miserable need help!

Recommended Posts

I'm six days post op and the only thing I can tolerate is Water and SF Popsicles. The Protein Shakes I had during my pre op are terrible tasting now and I don't know what to do. I had to come back to work today (office job sitting all day) and only been here an hour and feel horrible. The nausea just will not go away even with the med from Doctor. Any suggestions? I know I need to be getting Protein but everything is making me sick.

I was pretty nauseated for about 5 days post-op. I was feeling pretty defeated too. It will improve, just do what you can for now. If you can't do Protein Shakes today, then let that wait for a day and try again. Are you able to eat yogurt on your plan? S.F. pudding? Maybe you will be able to tolerate them, or broth? It does get better, I promise. Keep yourself as hydrated as you can.

Try the clear Protein waters. Some people develop dairy allergies/intolerances. Isopure, Special K Proaisis and I think Syntrax Nectar make them. There are probably other brands out there as well. If the nausea persist, call your doctor back.

I was nauseated for about 8 days post op and I still am occasionally in the mornings. It will get better and go away. One of the things I did was drink Triamino to get some Protein in. It's a flavored Juice/water that my doctor recommended because of my difficulty drinking. I would recommend trying that - you can get it at Holiday Gas Station Stores and it comes in many different flavors.

I will tell you to drink drink drink! I was re-hospitalized for dehydration and it was miserable. One of the symptoms of dehydration is nausea and not being able to drink. So watch that very closely. If your urine is not light yellow/clear I would talk to your surgeon, you are dehydrated and they need to get some hydration in you ASAP.

Ask if they can give you the scopalmine patch to go behind your ear and the zofran.

It is my first day back to work today. I was off for 5 weeks. I had the time available with my Short Term Disability and was able to swing it. I highly recommend taking as much time off as you can. The more time you have to recover the better.

I never heard of this so I googled. It's not a lot of Protein, but it's also not very high in calories. Drinktimino

I took a week off. Thankfully they are letting me work from home if needed I just hate doing that because I'm not nearly as productive as being in the office. I will try the recommendations thank you all! I talked to my doctor and she suggested V8 with unflavored Protein in it. Fingers crossed!

Drink some coconut Water, it's a super hydrator. As far as Protein you could try a ISO-pure ready made drink if you can find them. I got mine at the GNC they have a ton of protein in them. The only one I liked was the apple melon and it has to be COLD!

No the Triamino is only 7 grams of Protein but it gives the body something when you are on all liquids. It helped me so much by just getting a few grams of Protein in every day. My body didn't hate me as much.

I had the same issue after surgery. Protein Shakes either make me vomit or gave me dumping syndrome. Have you tried Fairlife milk? It's ultra-filtered so the lactose and sugar are removed, and then fortified with Calcium and extra Protein. It's not as much protein as a shake/powder mixture, but it's the only thing I could tolerate. I either had it cold with sugar-free strawberry Syrup or hot with some diet hot cocoa mix blended in. It was how I got through my first six weeks post-op without dying. It's sold at every grocery store.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
