Horrified! Labs came back

Recommended Posts

Guys I'm freaking out!! My labs came back and I was able to see the results on line in MyChart. I am horrified!! Something showed up and I'm super afraid to see my Surgeon on Wednesday. I don't even want to say what it is because I didn't do it!! Uugh!! What if they don't do surgery. What if my insurance sees it and denies me!! What if cops are there ready to arrest me!! What if they call my work and tell them!!!

If you're talking about drugs, you're protected under HIPPA. They are not allowed to call your work or the police or it is a violation of the law. Now, your insurance company and your doctor are able to see the results and what they decide to do with the information is up to them, but outside of your medical team, no one else is allowed to see the results.

Depending upon which drug you "didn't do", you can always request a second test to confirm your innocence. Or you can just own up to it. Either way, you aren't going to jail or losing your job, although if your job has the option to randomly drug test you, I would consider not doing any more of whatever you're already not doing.

Yep. I made a mistake posting it here. No one will believe me. I do get drug tested at work because I'm a social worker at an inpatient drug rehab. Never failed a test. I admit I smoked 5 years ago but not since. The levels were so low it wouldn't even show up on our clients drug screen. It has to be a false positive or a mix up or something. Not much shows a false positive for it so I don't know.

Does it say positive or a volume result?

Edited to say:: if the levels are so low that it won't show up on your clients results then its a negative test.

Well, if your last name is Siemer, and you look like your avatar, it's no longer a secret.

Seriously, folks -- this is the Internet, open for the world to see. If you want to keep secrets here, don't use your real name here and post your real photograph.

Can you just get another test to refute the findings?

It's not a secret. There's nothing to hide.

Depending on what you tested positive for I could tell you what OTC drugs could cause a false positive.

I think people are being a little judgey here, can it not be a mix up at the lab?

Just another thought, if you work at a drug rehabilitation centre, could your drink/food have been spiked with whatever it said you tested positive for?

I would wait and see if your surgeon even mentions it.

Are you taking an appetite suppressant? Unfortunately, I went through this with a job because the dr didn't tell me that would happen. They cleared it up quickly and I was able to start. I called friends crying and they all laughed because I was a "goody good". Well, even one hung up on me telling me to stop lying. So, there could be a valid reason.

Fascinating! I am on a LOT of different meds. Like 15 meds a day. It's no telling what it could be. All my friends are telling me I'm over reacting. I just don't want anything to mess this up, you know? I know I need this surgery to get healthy and stop being on all these meds and seeing all these doctors and being admitted to the hospital all the time. :-/

Whoa, hold on. Depending on what came up, it could have been something you ate or absorbed in the skin. Poppy seed muffins can make you test positive for opiates, for example. I wouldn't worry though. It could be a false positive or a simple mistake.

It was weed.

I haven't smoked in 5 years.

The only thing I can think of is I went the Poconos with my sisters family we hung out with all her neighbors. Something I hate or drank maybe had some in it? Because they were smoking it and I declined.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
