How much are you eating?

Recommended Posts

Hello! I am almost 3 weeks out and wondering about what I should be eating. I am altering between 1/2 cup to 100grams. But if its puree sometimes I do more. Can I get an idea of how much others are able to eat at this point? Or how much you can comfortable eat where you are now? I'm scared to stretch my pouch! Also how many meals are you eating a day?

Thanks!

As always, the first thing you should do is ask your NUT or doctor. Everyone's eating plan here is different, all of the doctors seem to have different plans, so you shouldn't take anyone's experience as your guidepost with this one question.

This is what your bariatric team is there for, to help you with just this sort of question. Sorry for no better answer, but that's really the best one.

I agree with Toasty, consult your doctor or nutritionist. As for my plan, I try to eat three times a day, though it is still hard sometimes, and each meals must be 1/2 cup (4 ounces) or less. I also still drink a Protein Shake every day to boost my Protein. I sent you other stuff in private messages, hope that helps. ^_^

The plan is not to copy exactly what anyone else is doing. Its just to get a picture of what different people are experiencing. I could ask my nut all day long but at the end of the day she can only give me guidelines not experience. Also because everyone has such a different eating plan, i find it interesting to see how they differ. I guess I asked the question a bit wrong.

Thanks your responses!

Every NUT seems to have a different opinion. My NUT said I am OK with eating as little as 2 oz. a day as long as I get in my Protein and supplements. Don't feel like you have to work up to a certain portion size. That can spell long term trouble. Once you stretch your stomach, there is no going back to a nice small pouch. My NUT said to stop eating when you feel full. I'm over 3 months out and 4 oz a day is all I can handle. I'm in no rush to eat more.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
