Next Wednesday is the nutrition class and then thursday is a pre op class with Dr.Ivan. not sure what's gonna go on with Ivan but I think he just talks to us about what's going to happen and answer any questions. Both of those classes are 2 hours. Then I have to go to the actual hospital a week later to talk to anesthesia, that way they know my history and all that fun stuff. I start my 2 week liquid diet in 2 weeks today. Not happy or looking forward too it but I know it needs to be done. I feel like this is gonna go by so fast.

I had my nutrition class today. It wasn't to bad. It's just she goes over everything that she talked before when you meet her. If you guys have already. But it is nice to have our mind refreshed on what to do. Tommrow is pre op class with Ivan. I will let you know how that goes too. Hope everyone is keeping warm with the crappy weather.

Thank you Dawn! I did my pre op class with Ivan and Erika today. Erika is gonna be the lady who schedules the surgery and the classes. She's so nice. She's actually had the procedure done. It's nice to talk to her or someone in person who's had it done. The classes aren't even 2 hours long really. Their maybe an hour n a half if that. Just 1 more last appointment with anesthesia and it will be done until surgery.

What day do you start your per-op diet? I can't believe you're almost there! I'm so excited for you that I can't imagine how excited and nervous I'll be.

Questions:

Do you have anymore blood work?

Did you have any weight loss between your start date and now? I weighed exactly the same as my starting weight at my last appointment. Ivan says I'm doing great so I'm not concerned I don't have a loss to show for the past 5 months.

Were your appointments with a group?

I start my pre op the 29th which is next friday. I am absolutely dreading it. 2 weeks of doing it. I have an outback that sits right in front of my work. Smelling steak. Omg. But we have to shrink our liver in order to have a faster safer surgery so that makes it better to know now. I start back in March and I've lost 9 pounds since then. I think I gained 2 back since the 6th but honestly, I'm trying to enjoy food and get things to eat so I can have those last bites. I mean I'm not over doing it or anything just eating. I don't have any more blood work. I had my nutrition class with 5 people and then 9 people today in a tiny room. They were all pretty much on their liquid diets and said they were hungry still. I think Ivan does such a good job. He will meet with you individually at the end of the pre op class. I'm definitely here for any questions or help you guys need.

I had the first appointment with my surgeon Monday. He has required me to lose 50lbs within the 6 month insurance wait. I had lost 8 since the 16 (9days) so at least I'm going the right direction. He has also said that I would have to have a blood clot filter put in before he would do the surgery. Has anyone else had to have this put in? Or told that they would have to?

Fireman9302, are you going through UC? After my last appointment they submit my insurance in for all the reviews. It takes 1 week to 45 days to get approved. I was approved after 8 days. I then had to do 2 different classes. 1 with the nutritionist and then 2nd one with my PA for pre op. Just go over all the hospital stuff. I just had an appointment today with the anesthesiologist. I got my blood drawn and they talked medicines and did a view over my body. I'm all done until I get surgery done on Feb 12th.

I start my liquid diet friday. Only 1 more day to enjoy everything I need to eat. I'm going to be enjoying sangria with my best friend later and enjoy anything I can to eat. It's really weird though because I've lost a couple more pounds. I'm surprised.

Kyboo1972, I have never heard of a blood clot filter being put in. It's really weird too. If you don't have any problems like that then they shouldn't worry about. Hopefully you can lose the weight you need too in order for your surgery. I'm sure you can. 6 months will fly by. I did this process for 10 months now. It's definitely all worth it.

I can't even tell you guys how crazy everything seems. My mind has been on nothing else but this surgery since I found out my date. I feel kind of obsessed about it in a way. But it's gonna be so life changing and my 1st real major surgery. I had a csection but haven't been officially put under. I'm still really excited. Just so nervous.

I have Dr. Wheeler in Ashland for the surgery. He said that he wouldn't do the surgery on me unless he put one in. That scares me more than the surgery itself honestly. I've never had an issue with blood clots..I had gallbladder surgery about 10 years ago and was fine with it. I know this surgery is much more serious than that but I don't really know the reasoning behind putting one in if there's no history of blood clots with me....unless it falls back on family history maybe and its more of a precaution?

Molly...I understand the whole obsessed....I've been obsessed with it since I had my first visit. I know its going to be life altering and I cannot wait to be able to lose some of this weight so I can feel better and know that I'm so much healthier!

Good luck on your liquid diet...your surgery date will be here before you know it! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
