Hey all. Great to hear how everyone is going. I'm 7 weeks post op and can now eat a full diet again. Enjoyed a Caesar salad last night and a bit of steak on Saturday. Lots of chewing but no problem. My stomach really lets me know when I've had enough. The trouble is, it's often before my brain and mouth feels ready. It's a psychological game I think. Also I don't feel hunger, but do get an empty feeling sometimes. It's tempting sometimes to eat the carbs but they really fill you quickly then there is no protein in - which is much more satisfying. I have increased my exercise. Can't believe I've still only lost 13 kilos - thought it would be much more given that I was 10kilos down in 4 weeks. Anyone further along care to share when/ how the weight loss happened?

Im sure if you are doing measurements as well as looking at kgs lost, you would probably find you are losing cms at the moment. A lot of people talk about a stall.... this is probably just that for you. Sounds like you are doing a great job, just hang in there.

I'd kill to have a salad, something I've really missed these past few months. I still have to wait a few more weeks.

I tried to be really organised before surgery, and took some (ghastly) "before photos", took measurements around my waist and upper arms and of course my weight on the scales. Now I'm struggling to remember the measurements I took and can barely bring myself to look at my "before" photos.

I'm sure there will come a time when I can handle looking back and not have such a feeling of shame and loathing, but right now I'm enjoying moving as far away from those figures as possible.

Enjoy this beautiful sunshine.....

Hi Everyone! I'm booked in for the 11th December in Brisbane.

Just wondering did your doctor or dietician tell you to start the pre-op diet? My doctor hasn't mentioned it and my first appointment with the dietician is just over a week before the surgery. Sort of hoping I won't have to do it at all! I've tried shake diets so many times that the thought is gag inducing haha

Im in Newcastle... Would love it to have a buddy here!!

I'm in Newy, too.

Sleeve booked with Tim in early December. Are you using Tim or Costa (or going somewhere else)?

We need a roll call!

BCs - lives in Sydney. 3 weeks post op. 19kg down including preop diet.

Next...

I'm in Sydney, 7 weeks post op. 13 kg down (but yes should have measured, am sure I am losing cm).

I'm one of the secret squirrels - not many know I've been done. My husband had gastric bypass in Jan. he has lost 33kg and diabetes - was on insulin twice a day.

Keep the roll call going

Did you get any reading material? My pre op diet requirements were in there

I'm needing to do 4 weeks of optifast. It's a little unusual that your not required to do the liquid diet, not unheard of but a little odd, the point of the preop liquid diet is to make surgery safer by shrinking the liver so the surgeon can have better visibility and access to the stomach

Awesome!!! Congrats on the surgery date! Good luck on the optifast, I start it tomorrow, it's gonna suck, but light at the end of the tunnel, surgery after it!

Good luck with the Optifast @@NaomiAus

I did 4 weeks as well...

It sucked!!!

But it's all worth it in the end...

Good luck to you both with the optifast and a fast post op recovery :)

Thanks, everyone. Tres excited!

Our Christmas party is on the 4th of December so worked out well.

Roll call: 3 more sleeps to surgery. A bit more about me...I'm 44 and have struggled with weight all my life. My grade 1 school report said '... Has a tendency to put on weight' and so the roller coaster began. I work part time and am mum to Miss Eight and Miss Five. This is the start of my new life.

Best of luck, ifrit! Come back and tell us how you go!
