Hi everyone... new girl here!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I am new here. I turn 40 tomorrow (how did that happen?) and meet with the surgeon for the first time on Wednesday. I am currently 260isg, 5'2", mommie to two beautiful girls and wife to an amazing guy. The only health issue known is HBP but I am pretty sure we might find more in all this pre-op testing. Has that happened to anyone?

I know my insurance requires a 6 month diet which I have already completed with my PCP. So here's hoping insurance approval doesn't drag on. I have a lot of life to live and don't want to waste any more time!

Very few people know I am looking into this because I want to avoid the peanut gallery comments of "it's about time". Has anyone else dealt with those?

Lol, "It's about time?". That comment would be way too supportive. Here's a sampling of some of the REAL comments people hear:

"Surgery? That's taking the EASY way out"

"Why don't you just try to diet and exercise?"

"My friends sister's best friends aunt had weight loss surgery, and she gained all her weight back"

"I know someone who DIED because of weight loss surgery. And that was AFTER they gained all their weight back!"

Obviously that last one is tongue and cheek, but you get the idea.

My ever supportive mother in law had gastric bypass done 13 years ago and since then has been not so blunt in voicing her opinion that I should get it done. If I could get away with not telling her at all I would.????

Welcome! Wishing you all to best for your surgery and beyond.

I wasn't going to tell people, fearing the exact same thing, peoples not so polite comments but I found myself now telling all kinds of people; family, co workers etc and I have had nothing but support and well wishes.

It is a very personal thing and it is completely understandable your decision not to tell people and ultimately, it really anyone but your business.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
