I'm trying to walk it off I can feel myself still bloated Im all over the paracetamol and chewing tum settlers

Really my body hurts to say I've a band with no fill my doc says id feel some restriction...If this is how I'm feeling now can't imagine when I do have a fill

Today is only the 8th... you had surgery yesterday... of course you feel like crap. I had surgery on the 4th, today I felt human. The day after surgery was the worst day for me. I was only tolerating ice chips and dry heaving 30 minutes after that. Each day after got a little better. I also had no desire for anything to be in my stomach.

That being said, my surgeon said if I have pain the meds don't touch to call. Have you called your surgeon?

No... I think this is having surgery. You have had your body sliced into and a foreign object put in. You should feel bad. The worst for me was the gas, and nothing helped but walking. The day after surgery I took little walks from my recliner to the kitchen and back- 20 steps total. Each day I walked a little more and a little more often. Eventually, the gas will pass.

Maddiee - hang in there! IT GETS BETTER. :-)

I was in pretty terrible pain for 3-4 days after I was banded 8 months ago. I had a double esophageal hiatus hernia repaired at the same time, which required more gas to pumped into my stomach than normal. HOLY CRAP I was deeply nauseated afterwards and I had terrible chest and shoulder pain ... relentless!

Worse pain than the unmedicated home birth of my daughter!

Please trust in the process and know that the recovery is quite long and the first few days are pretty rough. BUT! It gets easier and much, much more subtle.

Yes, your port site hurts, and your incisions will be tight and sore as well... be gentle with yourself, sip sip sip sip Water and fluids and take it easy. Every day that passes will make you feel better. If not, you should contact your surgeon and have a chat and follow up.

All the best - thinking of you and rooting for you! Woo woo! It gets better and IT IS WORTH IT!

I was certain the pain wouldn't end either but honestly, my nurse said it best, every 24 hours that passes is a new day and a new you. It sounds so cheesy but it's true. Every day you'll feel just a little bit better. I didn't feel even semi-normal until about 5 days post op. I'm now 11 days out and I'm still sore and tired but so much better. I was also told not to focus/worry so much about the food, it's most important to make sure you're getting your fluids in because that's what's going to make the big difference on pain level, fatigue, etc.

Best of luck.

Hi how are you feeling now?

I feel fine, I was clearly panicked tip toeing through the unknown was/ is scary! I was honestly having moments of regret whilst I was there in pain feeling like chest was on fire I admit this was me being crazy

I expected to go home and feel somewhat normal yes in pain but not to such the degree I experienced I was totally worse for wear walking lopsided for most a week whilst my port area heals I understand this is the process to say I thought I had a high pain tolerance major problem was experiencing acid reflux after never feeling such a sensation before as I breathed I could feel heartburn drinking nothing but liquids I felt didn't help and over the counter aids I felt dependant on but after the 4-5th day I realised if I ate a thicker liquid it went down a lot better and I never needed the medication now that I'm moving towards mushy foods my body is being a lot nicer to me in the mornings I've zero appetite yes my chest is tight to say I've no restriction yet I'm starving mid morning and a bowl of broth won't tide me over lol

Next stage now is my first fill in 3 weeks I've lost almost 18lbs so far

Thank you all for your supportive messages being a part of this site really has provided such a huge support reading about all your experiences has defiantly given some fuel for thought and I can't wait to share my weight loss journey when I reach goal xx

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
