Have people had any luck with shellfish? I am doing blended food and soft foods. I am looking forward to shellfish I do not really care for fish itself but I love shellfish. Did anyone have any problems? Or recommendations?

I had strained cream of shrimp Soup a LOT during my full liquids phase and lobster bisque a time or two. Once I was allowed soft foods, I had crab salad. And since I was allowed solids, I've probably had shrimp once or twice a week at least. No issues at all for me.

I've always loved seafood but used to only eat it ocassionally. I'm 5 weeks post op now and at least 1/3 of my diet is seafood. I started eating fish when I was on soft foods and chewed good. Now, I make boiled shrimp all the time and dip in cocktail sauce. I've also had lobster, crab, and the fish include salmon, tilapia, mahi mahi, white fish, catfish. I haven't had any issues but I also don't have anything breaded or fried. Spicy, cajun, blackened all do just fine, I haven't had any issues with spicy foods.

When summer rolls around in my neck of the woods, there are several seasonal foods in which I will always embibe....fresh white peaches, cherries, blueberries, blackberries, and of course my favs: fresh strawberries, fresh sweet Jersey corn, and tomatoes. To top the list is fresh seafood. I was sleeved last year in July and by late Sept I could tolerate mushies. So I had fresh grilled tuna (rare because it's delish and easier on my tummy), boiled shrimp, fresh flounder, seared fresh scallops and lobster. Also I did have two raw quahogs. ¡Que muy magnifico! They did okay. I chewed well, chewed slowly and even had some drawn butter. Only problem was a tiny bit filled me so much I could eat any of the low-carb veg.

Now a year out I can eat about 6-8 ounces of food including the seafood and the non-starchy veggies like spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, green Beans, collards and kale. And I do have the drawn butter.

It's great because seafood is so full of good low-fat or healthy fat Proteins. It really keeps me satiated for a long time as good proteins should.

HW: 267

Day of Sleeve: 244

Current: 195

Goal: 140

I'm a slow loser. But that's ok. Slow and steady wins the race.

I pureed lots of crab and shrimp when I was on purees. No problems! And when I was on soft food, I ate both shrimp and scallops without problems as well. Good luck!

I am on purée until Saturday! I have had a 1/2 cup of Trader Joes tomatoe Soup with 2-3 shrimp seasoned with garlic, oregano and pepper. I mash the shrimp until they are really really mushy then I add it to the soup. I hear it up for 1 minute and top it off with a little grated Parmesan cheese---delicious!!

FYI- I don't do well with purée meats or seafood. So I mash it really well then chew the heck out of it until it's purée consistency in my mouth. So far I have had no problem at all with it.

As long as they don't cook it until it's dry I'm good. No problem with oysters, lobster, crab, shrimp et.al. Should go without saying, but stay away from breading. If you want a crust, use hummus. It's fantastic on fish or chicken.

Further note, I have not had a problem with Sushi or Sashimi either.

I eat lots of shell fish. I buy a huge bag of frozen shrimp and it lasts forever because I can only eat about 8-10 at a time. Love crab salad too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
