Post op questions....

Recommended Posts

I am 5 days post op and the last two nights I have experienced a ripping/burning pain in my lower abdomen. It wakes me from a dead sleep. It's horrendous. I can't move its hurts so bad. I have also had sever night sweats as well. To the point my shirt is soaked and I am freezing.Has anyone experienced either of these after Gastric Bypass? I am wondering if this is something I should loop my Dr in on?

I think you should err on the side of caution and call your doctor. It might be nothing but it is best to be safe!!

Gumpgal,

I am sorry to hear you are having some issues. I would definitely check with the doctor on Monday. It is always better to be on the safe side.

@FrankinTx I will be calling first thing this morning. It's another night where the God awful pain has occurred, except for this time I took just regular Tylenol because I am trying to back to work tomorrow, and can't be doped up . Unfortunately the regular Tylenol doesn't do much for this particular pain. It is honestly the worst pain I have ever felt. It leaves me shaking and nauseous. It feels like something is ripping in or around my belly button. Sitting upright does help it a bit. I am starting to become worried.

Are you passing gas? And does it help to walk around or does it get worse? Usually Drs will have an on call person to answer questions. I'd try that. They always say that fever is a sign of infection and I worry that might be what you are experiencing. I also would take another week off if you can. Be safe, and get lots of rest. Please keep us updated!

So after a quick visit to the dr, he informed me that this is caused by muscle spasms. My body is trying to relax and the internal sutures and pulling. He prescribed a muscle relaxer to take at bed time and told me to be sure to stay on top of my pain medication.

Thanks ya'll! Basically he told me I am trying to push myself and to take some more time to rest and heal. It has only been 6 days ????. I guess I thought would bounce right back. Lol

You def need more time! Rest and rejuvenate. Your body just had MAJOR surgery. Bouncing back isn't realistic for all, myself included.

Yeah! I know that now. I foolishly thought I would be one of the ones that just bounced back and hit the ground running. LOL My body has quickly corrected me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
