I've found it's not just the initial gas pain, but the pressure pain that comes from sipping. Yesterday I was able to get through three 16.9 Fluid ounce Ozarka bottles but it literally took me all day up til midnight. I woke up feeling less incision pain today and I was able to get through a GNC Total Lean Protein Shake, but finding the right amount to sip of each different liquid so the pressure DOESN'T build up in my chest is kind of tiring. Might be a nap in my future. Zzz

I'm struggling with the liquids too. It took me 6 hours to get 16oz down yesterday. The gas pains are still ferocious but I keep walking & walking ... I am nursing some very runny cream of wheat now and cannot drink again for 30 minutes????We will get this all down like pros in no time ????????☺️

Hi guys. I am still in the hospital and have to stay another night. I've got wicked nausea and I've been dry heaving. I have eaten hardly anything since getting sleeved on 8/17 and I am very week. Haven't had the dry heaves since noon but the nausea and pain between my shoulder blades is back. I just want it to go away.

Hi guys. I just wanted to let you know I'm doing awesome. My surgery was August 17th. I came home August 18th. Leak test was good. I've been walking a mile three times a day. This helps with the gas pains. I manage to get all my fluids in. Tomorrow I start my three shakes a day. And Vitamins again. I just heard from insure nutrition.com and they said my Medicare covers all the nutritional supplements. I was so happy to hear that. They are taking care of all of the paperwork for me and contacting my doc for everything they need. That's a big relief. Thank you everyone for all your prayers. I started this journey at 226 lbs. now I'm 191.4 lbs. I really want this. I told my doc that if he agrees to do a great job on me and take care of me that I def will do my part and take care of me as well. This is the new me time! I see him again August 25. My stitches should be off by that day. Ormc was the best hospital and they took excellent care of me. Dr Seth Judd is a great surgeon. I'm glad I had my family there every step of the way before surgery and after surgery. Thank you God for watchingbover me!

Margie. Walk every minute you can. That's what I did. I was burping and passing gas. I even walked all night long. Pushing my iv pole with me. I was discharged in one day.

The gas really is the worst part. 3 days post op today and I feel pretty good. I also am still wanting to sleep a lot and haven't been able to get all the liquids down but my doctor says that's okay right now just get down what as much as I can. Phew. This is definitely no "easy way out."

I am having problems with heavy pain and not drinking as much but I am doing my part I am home and havent slept good at all!!

When I was still in the hospital, every time I would walk I would feel so nauseous I had to immediately get back in bed to sleep it off after just one loop. Turns out the pain medication was making me feel so terrible and I actually felt way more alert with more energy and overall wellness when it accidentally came out during a nap. An hour or so after that and I was ready to be discharged!

Kozujosie I have been walking up a storm. I think they have it figured out ... It's the narcotics that are making me so nauseous. I'm off all narcotics by mouth. I have a fentanyl patch (3 day extended relief) Pam, taking anti nausea mess. And using antiinflammatories for pain.

Feeling better I just hope and pray I don't go back!

Today has been my first full day at home and I have mostly been by myself. Ugh, it's been miserable. I'm not really in a lot of pain but I have broken down a couple times thinking I've made a big mistake. I keep having to remind myself why I made this decision. Just stinks not having anyone here right now.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
