I work at a hospital. I am in the office on Monday & Tuesday.
On Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday - I work from home.

When I work at the office, I am 95% at my desk, sitting.
When I work from home, I am sitting on my sofa.

I plan on having surgery on Sept 10th. This is my goal..

Thurs - Sept 10th - have surgery

Fri - Sept 11th - go home
Sat - Sept 12th - rest
Sun - Sept 13th - rest
Mon - Sept 14th - take off of work.
Tues - Sept 15th - take off of work.
Wed - Sept 16th - work at home.
Thurs - Sept 17th - work at home.
Fri - Sept 18th - work at home.
Sat - Sept 19th - rest
Sun - Sept 20th - rest
Mon - Sept 21st - take off of work
Tues - Sept 22nd - take off of work
Wed - Sept 23rd - work at home.
Thurs - Sept 24th - work at home.
Fri - Sept 25th - work at home.
Sat - Sept 26th - rest
Sun - Sept 27th - rest
Mon - Sept 28th -- go back to work.

Would that be okay or no? I read so many conflicting information that I have no idea what to do. I don't wanna take off more than I have too because I am not from North Carolina & I want my days so I can go home for Christmas. (Home is Louisiana.)

For those that have desk jobs, do you think this is possible or should I take the full 2 weeks off or 3?

Tell me what worked for all of you, please.

Thank you!

I had a desk job. My surgery was on a Monday and I was back to work full-time the next Monday. You are physically able to do desk work at about 5 days, which is when I started working from home again. I actually wrote a report on day 2 from the hospital but I was so drugged up I barely remembered it...fortunately the report was actually well done when I went back and read it later, lol.

I put in a 15 hour day at my home office on Sunday then went back to my physical office Monday morning. It depends entirely on how much you want it. You can sit at home and relax if you have the luxury of doing so, or you can get your rear back to work inside of a week. I didn't have the option of taking off more than a week, so I made it work. The same is true for my plastics. I was working at a desk for 12-15 hour days post-op day 5. Physically you will be fine, mentally it's a little exhausting but completely doable.

I have a desk job and I only want to take a week off. I hope to have my surgery scheduled on a Friday (1 work sick day), home by Saturday or Sunday (2 days of recovery) take M-F off from work (5 days), Saturday and Sunday (2 more days of recovery) and back to work that Monday. Therefore, I will only use 6 days of paid time off but have 9 days of straight recovery time.

I hope this is doable and I'm not in lala-land! I here the Constipation can have you 'stuck' in the house.

I was sleeved on a Tuesday and went to the office on Friday. Planned my meals and liquids. I have a pretty desk related job, but it was not hard to work.

I am planning 3 weeks off. I get paid so that's not an issue and they know what I am having done and allowed me to take sick anyway. I have a busy job with lots of getting in and out of the car, dealing with emergencies and lots of stress so I feel I need the time off or I will go in and end up having to take more time off.

I

Will

Be

Bored

Stiff

Though

:(

I was sleeved on a Monday and returned to work (desk job) the following Monday. I just finished my first week back at work. I had no problems. I did get a little tired in the afternoons, but nothing that was unmanageable.

My surgery was on a Tuesday so I took off Tues-Friday. I had planned on working from home Thurs/Friday but was still a little out of it, tired and just trying to focus on my fluids and walking. I went back to work on Monday and was a little tired the first week, but I have a desk job and I was fine overall. Just do what feels comfortable. My boss is flexible, so I knew if I went in Monday and didn't feel well, I could always work from home on Tuesday.

I plan on taking my full 6 weeks of STD once I have my procedure.

I took 3 weeks off because I had the STD to do so, but could have easily gone back at 1.5 to 2 weeks without any trouble.

I have an active, physical job with lots of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, squatting and lifting. I went back after 7 days with no problem, so for me your proposed schedule would have been very doable.

I worked at home when I had my surgery. Surgery was Thursday, I was back at work (working from a recliner) on Monday. Major post-surgical brain fog on Monday, but Tuesday was better.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
