Decided to go with 401k loan - nervous but excited!

So I posted last night, and got a few replies - thank you everyone for your thoughts! Now..once I receive that money..the only thing standing in my way..is me. Whoa..crazy concept. It's weird how much you want something and know it's the right choice for you, and then all of a sudden, when you begin to realize it's within your grasp, you have these major doubts and inner conflicts! I'm forging ahead but geez..who knew that once it came down to it, I'd be the one giving myself such a hard time! I've decided not to make the surgery public, which is scary, as I know in all the books and research I've done, everyone tells you to have a good support group, people to lean on when you're going through recovery, but my family just doesn't understand. I know there will be ups and downs, struggles and victories along the way, which I'm okay with; I've come to terms with it..but whew.. This is still kinda huge, and if anyone has any encouraging words from sleevers out there, they would be greatly appreciated!

I am on the same boat about not telling the entirety of my family. My immediate family knows about it and they are split about my decision. Honestly, the norm understanding of this surgery is that we are giving up, when in reality we are making a big lifestyle choice. This is something that's good for us. So if you need any help with support, or you feel doubt, or anxiety about any of this just shoot me a message!! God bless!

Thank you so much!! You hit the nail on the head with what you said about people thinking we are "giving up." If they knew or cared to research anything about it, they'd know that the surgery is only a tool. We have to change our habits, and learn about healthy living - the change has to come through us. The surgery may jumpstart everything, but at the end of the day, it's up to us! Do you have a date yet, and are you staying within the U.S.?

I wish I hadn't told anybody, but maybe that's just because I'm a private person. You have to do what's right for you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
