Once you submit for approval and get approved everything goes so fast. I'm a little over 3 months postop and it seems time has just flown by. Good luck and hang in there!

Submissions to insurance is nerve racking, please be warned. Try to busy yourself during that time. Next is pre op diet, which wasn't too bad for me because of the excitement of having the surgery. Post op was really easy. I had a couple of days of nausea and that's it. I started working out 2 weeks post op and I'm glad I did! It gave me energy. This is the best gift you can give yourself and your kids. This will give you your life back and so much more.

You've taken the first step and that's the hardest. Depending on your insurance you'll probably have some hurdles to jump on your way to approval, and the waiting can be tough, I won't lie.

But just keep reminding yourself of the reasons why you made this choice in the first place. Research as much as possible, so you're very clear on what is all involved.

Surround yourself with as much support as you can, which you'll find here in abundance. And allow patience to become your new best friend, and you'll be fine.

I promise it will all be worth it in the end! Welcome!

I too am 30 & a mom of 3 girls. I have finished all my requirements and I got a date of August 13th just to be told my insurance only allows certain drs that are part of a center of excellence. I have to wait again until July 31st for my appt with the new dr. Talk about impatient but it will all be worth it in the end.

I know the feeling. I still have 5 nutrition classes to go. Plus pulmonary and cardiologist. Seems like a long process but I just keep thinking about the skinny me! It helps!

Just like the labor with having your kids, the approval process is such a small part of the whole journey.

And just like having kids, the real work starts once you actually have the surgery ;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
