Does anyone else have this problem?

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I am just over 4 weeks post op. I feel good however....when I drink fluids especially Water, I get a feeling of fullness then like air bubbles come up it only lasts a few minutes. I get a sort of nausea feeling. I'm noticing now too when I eat (I am on regular foods now). I know my body is changing and adjusting but I seriously want to gag when I drink anything. I can't stand the feeling I get. I don't notice it too much when I drink my Protein Shake because it is little thicker consistency. Does anyone have any similar issues and will this resolve eventually? Thanks!

I have a similar reaction when drinking Water but only if it is cold or if it is the first thing that I have when I wake up. When I drink warm Water, it doesn't happen at all. I also drink something called Aloe Gloe (aloe vera water) and as long as it is room temperature it makes my insides feel amazing. I'm only 12 days out though, so I can only cross my fingers that this holds true.

I drink Water with lemon juice/slices. It seems to make the water less dense

I have had this and still get it depending on the time of day and temperature of the Water. I cannot drink icy cold Water first thing in the am. I have to give my tummy time to wake up. For me either room temp or warm water first thing in the am.

Then (and it took me a very long time to get here) I love my water icy cold later in the day assuming I am sipping. This is very recent and I am 8.5 months post op. If I gulp, I will still get that feeling like my tummy seizes up.

I can actually drink room temperature water vs. sipping it and it never bothers me.

Same here. I was just associating it with swallowing too much - either Fluid or food. It happens even with my shakes and began happening even in the hospital with ice. I find if I slow down and take smaller sips and when that happens wait about 10 minutes or so before I put anything else in, it subsides and it doesn't occur the next time.

Thanks everyone. I hope the nausea subsides and now with it doing it with food I'm worried my opening may be too narrow. Guess I wait and see but after one bite I lose my appetite. Just weird it just started happening the past week

I can only drink room temp Water. I am 8 months out and still have nausea issues if I drink too much, too quickly, or too cold. :-)

I am 5 weeks post-op now and I've just started in the past 4-5 days to feel nauseated every time I drink Water or eat. I haven't changed my eating habits so I'm really not sure what the cause is???

I had ALOT of nausea off/on for the first 6 months. I still have it if I eat too much, too quickly, don't chew enough, or drink with my meal....

In the beginning, I had to go back to soft/mushie foods for about 2 weeks, even though I'd been advanced to meats, etc.

I lived on cottage cheese for several days. It's the only thing that didn't make me sick.

Hang in there!

Make sure you're chewing well, eating very slowly, not drinking with your meal, etc.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
