Hey there September sleevers! Any one out there?

Hi! I just started my journey and I am looking forward to chatting with those of you who are on a similar time-frame as myself. My insurance is Cigna so they require a 3 month supervised diet, psych eval and sign off from my primary (which I am worried about, I haven't seen him in 5 years so what if he wont sign off? should I find someone new? suggestions?)

I am aiming for an early September surgery date, my Dr. said it is doable! I am excited and nervous.

I have learned so much already from reading about everyone else's experience it has really helped to calm me down.

I feel like I am obsessed with this and it's all I can think about. I have probably watched 200 youtube videos so far. LOL

Any tips, tricks or advice is welcome and appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

I am on my last long stretch before being sleeved on September 9 th been on liquid diet since August 24 I am scared and excited.. Already lost 15lbs just on liquid but boy do I miss the taste of food..I don't feel hungry but my brain wants the taste what do I do ???

How are you doing it? I'm having such a hard time sticking to my pre-op liquid diet and I'm extremely worried I won't loose but gain weight because my brain is freaking out and making me hungrier and I'm eat what I'm not supposed to. In the morning I'm ok and having my Protein Shake but then I start getting hungry for real food and I begin to eat. Any suggestions??
Hang in there! Just keep telling yourself that it is only 2 weeks and you can do this for just two weeks or break it down into a day at a time. I just have to make it through today... then repeat gain tomorrow. Are you getting enough Protein? I am using the Premier Protein shakes and that seems to help a lot. The first couple of days are the hardest usually as your body gets used to it. Your head is another matter - no tv because of all the food commercials, no thinking (or obsessing as I believe a more appropriate term for a lot of us) about food and if your thoughts go there, do something active with your mind to keep it busy (crosswords, solitaire, reading an exciting book, reading blogs to see that you are not alone and you CAN DO THIS!).

I keep telling myself that I don't want to contribute in any way shape or form to my doctor having to do an open surgery vs, laproscopic because my liver is too big if I don't follow the liquid diet as this will cause a much more painful surgery and longer recovery time. So I am looking at that as a bigger concern than wanting to eat something I shouldn't for those two weeks.

I'm sleeved, September 3rd, recovering and trying to get all of my fluids in.

Pre-op- 237

Day of surgery-220

9/9/15- 211

I think everyone is freaked out before surgery! I'm 1 week out and am doing well. 13 pounds down including pre and post op. I don't really feel that hungry either. I was hungry last night though and had a sugar free jello. The popsicles have been good too. I've had some diarrhea (sorry TMI) which I'm not sure if it's dumping syndrome already even without food. I will ask my surgeon next week. I usually have just the opposite after pain meds/anesthesia. I also had trouble with ice cold water. It seems to hurt a little. Unsure if that could cause dumping or not. Weird. No more YETI cup for now. The nutrition warned me about that or anything hot for the first two weeks.

I've had really good luck so far. No nausea, off pain meds pretty quickly, etc. I did walk in the hospital as much as possible, even 2 hours after surgery. The nurses were surprised but I was scared of that gas pain! Maybe that helped. I don't know.

Congratulations! Glad to hear you are doing so well! Wishing you much continued success!

I'm starting to get hungry with my 2 week post op liquid diet! Ugh! I'm drinking about 2 oz of protein shake every 2 hours. and water in between. Soft food in a week.

I'm nervous. Sept 21. I keep going back and forth over doing this... Don't do this. I'm self pay and lower BMI. I kind of feel guilty.

Why do u feel guilty?

Monday, the 14!!! And I am all over the scale...excited, nervous, thankful...you name it.

Never feel guilty. We all need this and we're adding years to our lives and we'll all be more healthy. This is a good thing!!!

I'm in the same boat, lower BMI, self pay. Don't feel guilty, this is for you! You know the low stats of keeping weight off once it has been lost. It's depressing. It what makes us all want to do it. I'm sure there's others here, besides me, that are all tired of losing the same weight over and over.

@@longjohs I'm Monday too!

Tomorrow is the big day!! :)

One week out from surgery, and one week into my pre-op diet. Doing OK. Staying away from carbs, doing LighterLife shakes/soups with occasional snacks on cherry tomatoes for texture.

Updated the blog and staying on track...dreaming about food though, and tortured myself by watching Great British Bake Off last night!

Just done a post on Last Suppers(s) - what did you guys d as your last meal before your pre-op diets?

@@Shotochick ooooh you are from England? I'm SUCH an anglophile, I watch so many British shows.

So glad I found this post! I will need to go back and read up :)

I am converting from band to sleeve on September 23rd. After 14 years I want the band out but I am not going to lie, I am scared. Getting hiatal hernia repair also so it will be a big surgery.

My surgeon does not require a preop diet but I am going to try and eat clean and do protein shakes starting tomorrow.

Can you guys tell me what your favorite shakes are and what to look for in a shake? I want to try a couple. I will be traveling 4 hours for surgery and staying in a hotel for 10 days so premade is best but don't mind having powder suggestions for when I get back home.

Again, so glad I found you guys :)
