Hey there September sleevers! Any one out there?

Recommended Posts

Hi! I just started my journey and I am looking forward to chatting with those of you who are on a similar time-frame as myself. My insurance is Cigna so they require a 3 month supervised diet, psych eval and sign off from my primary (which I am worried about, I haven't seen him in 5 years so what if he wont sign off? should I find someone new? suggestions?)

I am aiming for an early September surgery date, my Dr. said it is doable! I am excited and nervous.

I have learned so much already from reading about everyone else's experience it has really helped to calm me down.

I feel like I am obsessed with this and it's all I can think about. I have probably watched 200 youtube videos so far. LOL

Any tips, tricks or advice is welcome and appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi There!

I have my last appointment with my primary care physician next Tuesday. I am probably looking at a September surgery because of work schedule. I also have Cigna, and I am hoping they approve me. I have a BMI of 36, but several comorbidity factors including a degenerating hip, so getting this weight off once and for all is important to me. Cigna requires 3 months of appointments plus a "final appointment," which ends up being 4 appointments total- almost 4 months. My appointments were March, April, May and June. My husband is also working towards an approval. He started in May, and he's almost guaranteed an approval because he has a BMI of 44.

Good luck! I have found the process pretty easy really. Just time consuming.

Good morning! My ins. is Cigna too! I just started my journey last month and I also have to have 3 mos of supervised diet, psych eval, sleep study, 1 NUT visit and attend at least 1 support group. My bmi is 38.3 with a comorbid of osteoarthritis in my left knee. As oddly as it sounds, I'm hoping that's enough to get approved especially after dishing out all this money to meet my deductible and jumping through all of these hoops! After I found out that I had to have my PCP on board with this, I was concerned too! I had just started seeing her (my old one who has been there through all of my struggles of weight loss attempts closed her practice down) but I made the appt. anyway and went. Surprisingly, she was very much on board and felt the same way the surgeon felt and said if I could get the weight off the osteoarthritis would more than likely not be a issue for me anymore and she made me feel comfortable and everything! So, make an appt. With your PCP, he/she just might surprise you! Good luck!!

Hi I don't have my first surgeon appointment until next week (June 17th) but after speaking with his assistant she said he will if he approves me for surgery he will set a date there and then and given his current seclude will be August or September.

I then have to wait after I see the surgeon to see if my insurance company will pay out as they have to have a letter of recommendation from him to assess 10 working days and they will only pay about 35-40% of the overall cost - but still i need that or the whole thing is a no go! I really hope I can join you either in this group or August, I guess I will know more in the coming weeks - but the waiting is absolute torture!

My next appointment with the Dr is the 23rd of this month. I feel like everything is going in slow motion but at the same time really fast. I am nervous and excited but so glad that I found this site and that I am not in it alone.

With my insurance I had to have a 6 month supervised diet, and continusly loose, my last visit is the first Friday in August, I think the 8th or 9th then I can submit to my insurance, then it takes 2-4 weeks for insurance to approve, the surgeon said to me on Friday, my surgery will be in September

Let me correct myself, he said depending on how fast my insurance approves, it could be end of August or in September

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
