mharper77 got a reaction from hobbes13rn in Hey there September sleevers! Any one out there?Good morning! My ins. is Cigna too! I just started my journey last month and I also have to have 3 mos of supervised diet, psych eval, sleep study, 1 NUT visit and attend at least 1 support group. My bmi is 38.3 with a comorbid of osteoarthritis in my left knee. As oddly as it sounds, I'm hoping that's enough to get approved especially after dishing out all this money to meet my deductible and jumping through all of these hoops! After I found out that I had to have my PCP on board with this, I was concerned too! I had just started seeing her (my old one who has been there through all of my struggles of weight loss attempts closed her practice down) but I made the appt. anyway and went. Surprisingly, she was very much on board and felt the same way the surgeon felt and said if I could get the weight off the osteoarthritis would more than likely not be a issue for me anymore and she made me feel comfortable and everything! So, make an appt. With your PCP, he/she just might surprise you! Good luck!!

mharper77 got a reaction from Austin1966 in Hey there September sleevers! Any one out there?Had my 2nd of 4 appointments with my PCP yesterday and I gained 1.7 lbs. :'(. The situation I'm in makes this so difficult! I can't lose weight or I'll get denied but I definitely don't want to gain. I feel like I'm over thinking and stressing which makes me want to eat more!! I just want to maintain. Sorry, I'm just venting in hopes that someone on here can relate and maybe give some advice???

I don't have a date yet but should be either late September or October. I have my last nutritionist appt this month and then my required 3 hour class on August 20. Then all my insurance and surgeon retirements will be done! Then just wait for approval and a date! I already did 4 prior NUT visits, lab work, psych evaluation, EKG, EGD (stomach scope). I hope to connect as friends with other sleeves near my same timeframe for moral support!

I wish someone would start a fb for September sleevers. Need lots of support. Tried to bond with some from my Drs office Thursday, but none were September sleevers

mharper77 got a reaction from Sleevemetoo15 in Hey there September sleevers! Any one out there? So, I was supposed to have had my psych eval. this week but the place where I was going to get it called and told me that my ins. would not cover any of it because they are out of network and I haven't met my deductible. They said if I paid out of pocket, it would be $400 - $500.00. Needless to say I canceled and found a place that does take my ins. They called me today and said my ins. is covering the whole visit!!!! I had to have them repeat it because this process has been so expensive for me so far!!

I don't know about the rest of you but I just had a moment where I realized that next 4th of July I will be nearly half my size. It made me *SMILE*
Happy 4th everyone!!

mine is this coming Saturday, I told the receptionist that I needed a pych evaluation for surgery, did I need a longer or different appt? (this is my psych dr, not a referral) and she said I should be fine with the hour. My surgeons office gave me a letter/info sheet that lists all the things that need to be listed in the eval for the insurance company. I will keep you posted! -

It seems as though September is still so far away to me. Extremely excited to start this journey's other side.

Hey everyone, I am a September Sleever too. I had the Band. Just had it taken out two days ago. Can't wait to revise to the sleeve...have to do a 3 month supervised diet with my doctor's nutritionist for my insurance. I already got the clearances I need from a psychologist and therapist. I have an appointment in a week with my primary care to get a letter from him. I can't wait for September to be here!

I survived the sleep study last night, worst thing ever. Can't stand restrictions on movement and things by my face, especially my nose. Finally got my surgery date. Monday August 10th. Last Nutritional visit on 7/10 then submitting to insurance for approval. I'm really excited.

mharper77 got a reaction from byebyefat in Hey there September sleevers! Any one out there?I know!! I don't know what we're going to be talking about for 3 hours but I'll let keep ya posted. Yeah, my insurance requires 4 supervised PCP appts. Well, my bmi is 38.3 and I have a comorbidity of osteoarthritis of my knee and my surgeon feels that will be enough to get me approved through my insurance but wants to check me for sleep apnea since from the way I answered some questions regarding it, it may be a possibility that I have it. He said if I did, it would definitely get approved! How disturbing is it, that I hope I do? I guess, it would be better to have that, though, then something worse,,, which is the direction I'm heading in with prediabetes and borderline htn... -
mharper77 reacted in I'll be 2ndI'm 36 yrs old and had lap-band surgery on 6/11/03 at 242 and now weigh 230 -- I am taste those 220's. I'm married with 2 girls and have been wanting to lose weight for the last 15 years - well I have lost and gained and lost and gained...you know the routine. I love the NEW ME and can't wait to get my first fill on 8/13 as I have not much restriction now.
GOOD LUCK to everyone that has been banded or thinking to be banded or about to be banded. I don't regret this for one moment
