Dr. Ariel Ortiz at the OCC

I've read mostly positive posts about Dr. Ortiz and OCC on this and other forums. A few people don't seem to like his "celebrity" status and I did find some older complaints about their bands. Anyone out there with bad experiences or complications with their sleeves from him?

I'm already planning a trip back... Maybe in March or April.

That's great! I wanted to ask you Ringo... now that everything is over, how are you feeling about your decision?

SoCal, when are you having your surgery? My date is set for February 17… I'd love to have a buddy ;)

Covatila84, I haven't set my date, but I am hoping to snag a date in the middle of April!

Help!!!! I'm on day 3 of the Pre-op diet. I am drinking the enspira protein shakes, SF Jello and Popsicles, and green leafy vegetables and I am starving to death. What are some helpful tips from those of you who have finished it? Oh yeah, I am also drinking about 90 oz of water a day. Today was the worst so far. I felt very lightheaded most of the day today. My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 21st.

Only other thing I can recommend is take a multivitamin religiously. Yes, the preop sucks ass, I'm day 9.

Sorry for the double post

Hi all!!! I am sleeved! I expected to be in way worse condition! But basically zero gas pains! Yay!

So glad too hear it. I will be there in two weeks.

Well, if you'd asked me yesterday morning, I would have said I was miserable. I couldn't seem to get liquids down as much as they'd like. I felt gas pains no matter what I drank and no matter how small I sipped. Today was a much better day - and I imagine that as the days progress, they will get better and better. I've had no real hunger, besides head hunger - which I recognize as such. And I haven't gotten on the scale yet. Not because I'm not curious but because for me, it's about so much more than the number I see. I will eventually look but for now I'm just concentrating on getting liquids in, taking my medication and getting well. I'm not regretful at all.

For those of you who are interested, I went there alone from start to finish and I never had an issue. Everyone that was there with someone else scoops you up and makes you extra comfy. I never felt unsafe and I never had any issues. If anything, I enjoyed the solidarity as I so rarely get a moment to myself now that I am back.

Thanks for asking Barb. And now to drastically change the subject... lol. I haven't pooped in a week. I don't feel bad really. But just haven't. Did you fix the constipation issue? If so, how did you do it? Can i take a stool softener?

My peer to peer was denied today, so I have officially decided to have my surgery at occ. I could still appeal but I'm exhausted by this scam they call insurance! My date is Dec 30 :) I feel a huge sense of relief
