Boarding my flight in 15 minutes to Tijuana for surgery later this afternoon. Not feeling nervous, I thought I might be but am excited to get this behind me and begin winning the weight loss battle. I have lost 15 pounds in the last 2 weeks, I guess that's a start.

@@BariatricBarb, Yes, I have, and am wondering if it's either from lack of caffeine, or side effect of the meds they gave me, lack of neck support in surgery and in hospital. Tylenol didn't change my headache either...Mine ended up feeling like sinus pressure so I after I was able to take one tab of a sinus medicine it went away!! So sorry, hope you're disappears soon.

Thanks @@cmhueto, I emailed my doc yesterday and he gave me the go-ahead to resume taking an anti-inflammatory Rx that I normally take for neck pain. The headache went away after 3 days. So I'm thinking it was probably neck strain from being in the hospital. I'm feeling well today and I've lost a few pounds so thats a bonus! Can't wait to see what the next few weeks have in store.

Hello all, my surgery date is June 26th. My mind is in full panic mode, I know what I want and need but some little part of me is still uncertain. Maybe I should say scared. I go over the pros and con's and the sane me knows what's right, but I hate these feelings. I am on my two week clear liquid diet, which by the way bites! I will do what is right to avoid any problems. Thanks for letting me vent. Good luck to all..

Hey! Finally someone with my exact date! We're surgery twins! Lol. Good luck on your journey and hang in there! 10 days to go!

Two days post op and fighting pain and gas bloating. Also been drinking Water, diet juices, chicken broth. And not much more. Any suggestion?

Gas x strips are my best friend! And like everyone says, walk, walk ,walk! I'm six days out and sleeping with a bean bag pillow on my tummy and I'm a little more comfortable. Hang on, it starts getting better every day.

I'm scheduled for June 30th and I am so afraid. But I know they are unwarranted fears. Does anyone else have fears?? I have never had a surgery before so you can imagine all the fears I have.

I finally finished one whole egg today for Breakfast. Surgery was one week ago today I was able to eat the day after what the hospital gave me and I've been on a mushy diet since surgery. Tomorrow's breakfast will be two eggs because the sample menu says on the seven I should be eating two eggs but I barely got 1 today. Don't know how much I weigh yet, as I go today for my one week post op follow up today so I will post later what my results are and keep in mind that I had done two weeks liquid diet that led up to surgery day.

I have fears too but I know the chance of something bad happening is very, very slim. At my age, my health (physical & mental!) would be more at risk if I DON'T get the surgery.

My surgery is tmrw; I'm having "do I really want to do this" thoughts at times, but I've waited for so long & jumped thru so many insurance hoops, that I am finally tired of waiting & VERY excited, and yes, a teeny bit anxious.

I deserve to be healthy & happy, and so do you! ????

Wow! Every surgeon is different I see. My surgeon isn't super strict on the pre op diet, but will be very strict on my post op. liquids for 30 days, soft foods week 5, solids week 7. My surgery date is 6/22. Congrats to you and your success!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
