I'm tired of waiting, I want to be able.

Recommended Posts

I see everyone saying how they're getting their surgery dates, and how their on the losers bench. I literally can NOT wait! It's driving me bonkers! I just want the surgery so I can have my own success story-so I can feel how everyone else feels.

I want the feeling of being able to tie my shoe without having to sit down or tie it then slip it on.

Or the feeling of running a mile nonstop without my joints hurting.

Eating a meal and not being hungry 20 minutes after.

Being able to buckle my seatbelt without having the safety lock come on.

Being able to sit in a regular chair without it digging into my sides.

Being able to close my car door without my butt touching the door and the middle counsel.

Being able to save money, due to my food bill going down.

Being able to walk up and down stairs without hurting.

I just want to be able....

Sorry for my rant.

I'm still pre-op. It's all these success stories that keep me motivated. I'm still 1 month from surgery. I've been using this time to follow healthy eating habits and exercise. Hopefully this will translate into a success story for me as well.

Do you have a surgery date scheduled?

Me too girl! My first consult is 5 weeks away and surgery likely won't be until early next year. Seems like an eternity but time does have a way of flying.

I had an extra long wait once I finally decided to have the surgery. Yes, the waiting was the hardest part but the process and time spent preparing was critical. I don't think my recovery would have gone so well without it.

My 5th month doctors visit is coming up on June 4th. I have no date due to having to wait for my 6th month weight in on July 2nd then my psych evaluation and my dietician consult. They say insurance can take 4-6 weeks then after they have an approval I have to get an upper GI and something else done before I'll even get a date. ????

I'm just so tired of being fat. I've done my exercising and eating healthy. I've lost 4lbs since my first appointment. I do NOT understand what I am doing wrong. I've cut my portions in half, exercised 5 days a week cardio on all days for at LEAST 30 minutes. Upped my vegetable intake TREMENDOUSLY. I'm working so hard and I've lost nothing.....idk

I just feel like this will help me in my journey and nothing I'm currently doing is helping. I know this will and I just want it so bad.

I had a 6 month waiting period thanks to my insurance companies requirements. It really was frustrating at times because I knew it was coming and was ready to get it behind me. I decided to go on a modified liquid diet at Christmas time as I wanted to do something. I upped my Protein quite a bit, and reduced my meals. The weight started coming off pretty quickly! I finally felt like I was doing something!

My approval finally came in April and I got the sleeve on 5/8. My weigh in at the hospital was 296 (minus 39 lbs since Xmas). I am now at day 15 and weigh 278, a nice 18 lb. drop since surgery day. The first week after the surgery was no fun, but everyday after that I am feeling better. The only real residual I feel now is that I need to sleep A LOT more than before...I am in bed asleep by 9 PM and wake up pretty fully alert by 5 AM...9 hours a night!

My blood pressure is now normal, I have stopped taking medication for the first time in 14 years. I have no back pain anymore, and am walking 3-5 miles per day without my knees bugging me.

My doctor green lighted some soft foods, even chili, tuna fish, eggs

My brain still wants to over eat! My sleeve won't let me. I have to force myself to eat slower, and it is so strange to get full off of so little food. A 14 oz can of chili will give me 3 meals! I still get that contented feeling of being full with 4 oz of food per meal. It is so strange.

Just hang in there...this surgery has been a miracle so far.

"slvarltx" my only concern with the sleeve is I LOVE sugar.

Do you really "love" a bunch of carbon atoms linked together a certain way? You love the feeling they give you which is WAY beyond what your body needs to survive. That's why we are in this situation....our minds have linked emotion together with food and has this crazy feedback loop going.

Thinks about your list of what you want and then think about your craving for sugar. Something has to change. There is discomfort and change is scary.

You CAN do this. You CAN manage your cravings for sugar and eventually they will subside. You are taking charge of the situation and getting yourself the sledge hammer, our sleeve, as the big tool in the tool kit in managing our weight and deciding that a bit of discomfort is worth everything we want in our life!

If you are like me, and many other people I know of, once you get sugar out of your system you probably won't crave it as much.

Plus, with all the sweet Protein shakes and supplements you will be drinking you won't really have to completely give up sweet things.

Sugar is why I'm in the shape I'm in--hence, I chose band to bypass revision!!!! I'm an addict, and knowing the consequences of sugar consumption after surgery is just what I believe I need!

Have you consider going to Mexico to get it done, they also have financial aid and the have appointments available within 1 o 2 weeks, they have a ER Trauma doctor talking to you on Skype, he does a research on your medical history, you can also talk to your surgeon and nutritionist, bariatric pal has a really great team of doctors and a really cool staff that takes good care of you, if you can't take anyone with you, they'll be your friends, and they help with all the arrangements, they even pick you up at the border and drive you back.

No I haven't considered going to Mexico due to my money situation. My insurance covers it its just going through hell and a hand basket to get it done. I'm a very impatient person, and when I want something I want it then and NOW . Lol

I just need to keep patient and it'll work out. Fingers crossed.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
