I am one day post op and they gave me sugar free pudding at the hospital along with cream of chicken soup.

When I had my surgery 15 years ago, the only shakes my doc used were 70 calorie HMR shakes with a huge Vitamin pill. It tasted very badly and the pill was nasty and made the shake in the am very gritty and vitaminnnnnny! Yuk!!!! There are so many more available now, thank God! I use Isopure zero carb, GNC pro performance whey isolate 28, and SEI Nutritionals Max Protein powder. If you use Torani s/f flavored syrups and ice you can make them taste great! Good luck all you new ops!!! ️ Congratulations on starting your new life!

Where do you buy the Torani syrups?

I found skinny syrups at Burlington coat factory and at Ross. But you can get torani at almost any grocery store.

I find a few in Ross clothing stores, oddly, and there are some in Bevmo, a liquor/barista supply store. There are sometimes some in Walmart, and there are plenty in Smart and Final. All of those stores are near me, here in Long Beach California, however, I don't know what is near you. You can buy them online at Torani's website, also, DaVinci and skinny taste, all knock offs, are on the web. Amazon has them all!

I lost 21 lbs

I lost about 20lbs on the pre-op(non liquid) 1400 calorie per day diet. I weighed at the beginning and at my Dr's appt. I have had a real issue with weighing too often (in the past) and successfully avoided that (so far) this time.

Great job, both of you!

@@dragonflylady- I am between 40-41 bmi with no comorbidities. My surgeon told me to maintain my weight until it is submitted to insurance for approval. If I drop below 40 they will not approve it. I have my final weigh on 8/3, then it gets submitted, surgery is scheduled for 8/14, so NUT said to start the pre-surgical diet on 8/3.

I'm down 19 pounds with 4 days left to go. At this point I think it is just the liquid diet that makes me lose weight and the surgery keeps it off.

10 lbs in 4 days... I just went back to the dr to finish off all the hospital paperwork and when they weighed me I was stunned.

It is amazing. It really goes to show how much we were overeating. I believe most of us are actually food addicts. We use food to cope repeatedly and it always leaves us feeling worse but we do it again.

Living in this pre-op diet has broken the cycle and let me see what I was doing to myself. I think that may be one reason some doctors have us use shakes. I'm grateful for this phase of the program.

Here, here! food Addict am I!
