  1. Thanks all for the responses! Great points! I suppose I should take a closer look at my diet. I probably eat too much red meat. I just figured since I never seem to eat much, that there's no way my cholesterol would be high. I think I'm telling my doc I will try the statin after I make some diet changes and exercise more. Some of the statin side effects scare me too.
  2. One year out, 110lbs down, and had my labs done...my cholesterol is up since my vsg. My doctor is suggesting I start taking simvastatin again (I took it for two years prior to surgery). This makes me feel like a failure!!! The reason I had surgery was for my health...and now I will be back on a pill. I am so disappointed. Has anyone ever experienced high cholesterol after wls surgery?
  3. I can relate! I had a similar experience. I am down 80lbs total, but LOTS of stalls along the way. My body likes to tease me and lose 10lbs then stall on me for a few weeks. Hang in there, you'll keep losing.
  4. Yes, I had it for a month following. Then I went to total normal BM. Hang in there.
  5. I found that sleeping on my side all night was hurting mine. I tried to stop laying like that so much and it seemed to help. But that was just one hip, probably isn't the problem if both hips are hurting.
  6. Congratulations! I am happy to hear that you're happy!
  7. Me too! I'm freaking out! Surgery was 6/12. I am down 75lbs, but getting super self conscious about my hair
  8. I have been eating steak since 3 months post op. Tiny bites and chew very well. I haven't puked at all since surgery, I am 4.5 months out.
  9. Ok, you have me wondering. I took my first iron supplement today and have been dizzy, which does not usually happen to me at all. Could it be the supplement?
  10. I stalled for 3 weeks total, around weeks 3-6. I was miserable. BUT, the day I started walking, the weight is falling off. Hang in there, I promise it gets better!
  11. I get a strange tight squeezing feeling. Near where my sternum is. While eating my meal, the first time I feel that, I know it's time to push the plate away. If I don't and squeeze in more food, I get nauseated, although I've never puked.
  12. My new stomach has been going crazy the past two days! It's like gas is constantly trapped and I belch all the time. It was not like this before AT ALL! Could it be reflux, a leak, gallstones? It makes me not want to eat because then it goes nuts sounding. I'm not really uncomfortable besides the belching all the time. Opinions?
  13. I was a slow loser on the beginning. Don't get discouraged. It will be ok. I am 12 weeks out and am now down 56lbs (including pre op diet) and losing quickly now. Maybe the slower loss will help with loose skin. Hang in there, it gets better.
  14. I probably did eat too fast. I struggle with that sometimes.
  15. So, I am 12 weeks post op tomorrow. This week on two occasions, after I have eaten lean ground beef (which is usually fine), I get this really funny feeling in my sleeve, almost like an emptying or turning feeling, it's so funny feeling, almost like butterflies. Then I immediately get nauseous. I have not puked but then get very close. Then about 5 mins later I am fine. What in the world could it be?
  16. I Think I would avoid broccoli since it can cause gas.
  17. I'm a slow loser, so my period has stayed right on track with no change.
  18. I hit a horrible stall around weeks 4-7. Talk about depressing! Week 8, I picked up the exercise and don't ya know I've lost 4lbs by week 9.
  19. The gas X strips helped me. And yes mouthwash, I agree!
  20. I was tired for 6 weeks. Seriously just wanted to lay around. I am 9 weeks out and finally my energy has returned. And I think protein and water are your best bet.
  21. I was sleeved 6/12 and lost 20 preop and 20 since surgery. I am a little bummed too I was hoping for more. But if we follow directions I think it will start coming off, at least I hope!
  22. Post op, 5 weeks tomorrow. Eating soft but transitioning to "regular" foods.
  23. I can not get rid of the bad breath and nasty taste in my mouth. Not brushing, listerene, breath mints. What is going on?? Could it be the actigall med? I need some help, eek!
